Its been about a year since I purchased my Macbook and I just finished my first year of college. I like to re-format my computers about once a year but until now I have only re-formatted PC's. I just have one question though, after I run my installation CD, do I have to install all new drivers and such like you do with PC's?

Instead of bothering to reformat it, just sell it and buy a PC.

You will not need to install drivers.

I'm guessing you don't play PC games? :P

Besides, even Vista >>>>>>>>>>>> OSX

I have a Windows desktop. I hate Vista. I prefer XP.

Vista isn't that bad. Beats the crap out of OSX :P.

But, yeah, XP is probably better. I'm planning to build a desktop this summer, and I'll get Windows 7 for it when it comes out (probably just get Vista and then upgrade...) :D.

I disagree, of course. I've used all of them thoroughly and I prefer OSX to Vista. I'm not trying to start a debate, I just prefer my Mac.

:P whatever...

Speaking of which, I'm hoping to put one of those nice Core i7 processors in my new desktop :D. As well as a 1gb video card (maybe Sapphire Radeon HD4850 1gb). Basically, I want to kick the crap out of games :D.

This is my first build :o. I'm really looking forward to it :D.

The Core i7 2.66GHz is under 300 right now. I'm hoping the Core i7 2.93 goes down (its a little over 500 atm... :?). Or, I guess I could just get the Core 2 Duo 3.16 for under 200 :P. What do you think?

Actually, just glanced at a few reviews, and they seem to recommend i7 2.66 over basically all Core 2 Duo :P.

I like Vista but it's slow so OS X beats it. But W7>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>any mac OS. I don't get the fascination with XP, it's very virus-prone and gets slow after a while, unlike vista and W7, which stayed consistent with their speeds.

You can just overclock the i7... that's what I did, and it blows through anything I throw at it :D

I'm hoping the i7 2.93 goes down some, but I kind of doubt it will too much, so I'll probably just go with the 2.66. That should blow through anything.

And, yeah, I can always OC it :P.

Your first build, huh? The first one is always the toughest, but it's still fun. :P
