What were you taught to believe while you were young? Also, now that you are older and you can decide for youself, do you truly believe in a God? I was raised as a catholic and i honeslty do not believe any of it.

I was raised in a casually religious Baptist/Methodist family. Now that I'm an adult I do not attend church regularly, though I do believe in a higher power. I am not part of an organised religion, but I do worship God in my own ways.

I was brought up to believe there is a God, but I never once went to church, nor did anything religious.

I was raised to believe there was a "God" but around age 7 I figured everything was a lie. I mean I was told God was everywhere and I looked around my apartment one day and couldn't find him/her/it. I was told angel's lived in the sky and I went outside and only saw clouds.

I was raised a Christian, and now that I'm old enough to think for myself, I still am.

Well, I wasn't really raised a Christian (my parents weren't very religious) and I didn't go to church except on special occasions. The main place I learnt Christianity and all that was at school. But I'm older now, and don't believe in it anymore.

I was raised around people who couldn't care less about the existance of God. As such, I've become quite anti-religious :P

Born Catholic, but don't believe in God now. Faith is a search for truth beind that faith, and when that truth leads away from the faith you have two choices: Compartmentalization or Abandonment. I chose abandonment.

I do not knowingly follow evils.

No. I think believing in god should be punishable by life in prison. If not that, it should be illegal to practice religion outside of your own home (get rid of churches and church tv).

I was born into a Christian family (well, at least my mother is; I'm not sure about my father) and went to a Christian private pre-school.  Afterwards, I rarely went to church.  Today, I am an atheist.

For me, it's the opposite. one of my parents is catholic, and the other atheist. When I was young, I thought that my atheist parent was right. Now, I do not.

I believe in a constitional ammendment barring religion. It serves no purpose but to teach hate, and make society retarded. They are like "OMG Marilyn Manson is bad...OMG rap is bad....OMG public school is evil.... Harry Potter should be banned from schools.... My children should be able to were crosses to school...."

Seriously, I hope a new Hitler comes and annihilates all those who believe in that crap.

That is completely unnecessary.  I don't know who gave you the idea that religion only teaches hate.

And Marilyn Manson is bad... for other reasons. ;)

I've always found it interesting that depending on where you were born and how you were raised usually always is a determinant of religious beliefs.  Born in Iran, you are Muslim.  America......Christian or what have you.

So many voices and teachings of different Gods, all beliefs dependent on environmental factors.  It's great that this allows for diversity and tolerance.

Oh, wait......

I was brought up in a protestant Christian society, and our Religious Education in school consisted of Christianity (obviously), as well as awareness of Judaism, Buddhism, Islam, and Sikhism.

I just sat there and though...."Pfft, yeah right."

I was not raised in any form of religious practice. I was given a choice from a very early age to participate in it or not. I thank my parents for doing that. I myself am an empirical agnostic. I am going to teach my children about all religions and let them choose which they want to practise.

That means like, three different things. Either you are still Christian and thought all the other religions were inferior, thought ALL religions were inferior, or thought that Christianity was inferior compared to those other religions.

I wasn't really brought in anything. The Lord thru His sovereignty found me. Haunted me for another 15 years before finally saving me by His grace.(Eph. 2:8-9). I am so very grateful He did.

_____________________________________________________________

"Will you do me a favor? I asked it once, and it was blessed to the conversion of several. Will you take a little time alone this evening, and after you have weighed your own condition before the Lord, write down one or two words? If you feel you are not a believer, write down CONDEMNED. And if you are a believer in Jesus and put your trust in Him alone, write down FORGIVEN. Do it, even if you have to write down the word CONDEMNED...Remember, you are either one or the other-CONDEMNED or FORGIVEN. Do not stand between the 2. Let it be decided. And remember, if you are condemned today, yet you are not in hell. There is still hope." Charles Haddon Spurgeon-1863

I apologise and shall clarify. I sat there and though that what I was being taught was just a load of rubbish. I am atheist.

EDIT: furthermore, I thought (and still think) that each religion carries the same weight in feasibility. And in my opinion, that is zero.
