A lot of hype surrounding this one. Here it is.
Thoughts?

Im just not in to the whole 3D thing so will probably wait for the DVD too.Looks good, but that 3-D crap gives my wife a headache. I'll maybe pick it up on DVD I guess.

Looks interesting, but am I the only one that thought some of it looked a little cheesy? Not the effects, just the character's reactions to everything.
I like the look of it. I still believe this will be an alien prequel. Just minus a plot revolving around the xenomorphs, more around the mysterious space jockey and why he had eggs on his ship in the first place. Even the trailer music is the same (more or less) as the original alien trailer. Plus you can clearly the see the space jockey seat and ship within the trailer.
Im just not in to the whole 3D thing so will probably wait for the DVD too. Considering that now movies are actually now shot in 3D and not just outsourced to China for the 3D effect, I think you shouldn't be knocking just for being 3D.Looks good, but that 3-D crap gives my wife a headache. Looks promising as hell. I don't like any of Scott's films beyond The Duelists, Alien, and Blade Runner. Since two of those are sci-fi films, maybe this will change that. :>
Also, for those complaining about the 3D, most movie theatres show films in 2D and 3D now.
Love the visuals, the cast is ****ing fantastic and if anyone could make this work it is Ridley Scott. So I'm very excited for this.
Really solid casting with Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce and Michael Fassbender. I'm looking forward to seeing how those on screen chemistries work.
It looks dark, and promises to raise all sorts of questions.
I'm just glad that the movie's finally here. It feels like the whole thing's been in hypersleep. :)
It looks good but as a Alien prequel everything looks so much more advanced.xxmatt125xxSo it is an Alien prequel? I heard that it was, then that it wasn't, then that it sort of was, then decided to stop caring until the damn thing came out and they made up their minds

I heard that it was, then that it wasn't, then that it sort of was, then decided to stop caring until the damn thing came out and they made up their minds Not really a prequel, takes place before the events of 'Alien' but outside of a few references, like the Space Jockey, it has no connection to 'Alien' from what I've read. Scott decided instead of making a prequel, he would just explore a different part/time of the same "universe" of the 'Alien' films.
YOU'RE TEARING ME APART RIDLEY
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO THE SPACE JOCKEY
VADERNOOOOOOOOOOOO

They really need to stop using that Inception *DURRGH!* sound in every. damned. trailer. Ninja-HippoActually if you want to get technical it's not from Inception, it's from Deus Ex.
Anyways, my cousin worked on the visual effects for this movie and I'm a HUGE Alien fan...I'm there for the midnight release.
Clicked thread thinking this was going to be a mythological epic. *watches trailer* Scifi... Not interested. th3warr1or
Blasphemy!
:P I kid...
I wish this was rated R.sammyjenkis898You mean it isn't? Well that's made me slightly less enthused.

Has that been confirmed already? Seems to out of character for it to be PG-13 :(
They're filming a PG-13 and an R rated version and Fox will decide where to go from there.

Gotcha. So even if it is released in theaters at PG-13, then there is hope for a Directors Cut edition on DVD.

It is Ridley Scott, no matter the rating, we are going to get a Directors Cut.You mean it isn't? Well that's made me slightly less enthused.Brutal_Elitegs
It hasn't been confirmed, but the studio was reluctant on funding so much money for an R-rated film. I'd imagine the PG-13 cut will be released in theaters and the R-cut on Blu/DVD.In further news, Ridley Scott also recently announced at the San Diego Comic-Con that he's aiming to gain a PG-13 rating with Prometheus. He went on to state that he's covering his ass by simultaneously filming more explicit material, allowing him to be able to choose what ultimately works best for the film.

Just because it's scifi doesn't mean it won't have ties to the mythology.

Considering that the trailer alone shows Theron stripping off parts of her clothing, a mans face practically melting off and a girl covered in blood I doubt it will tone down too much of the violence and it might get that R, so people shouldn't worry, but I don't think it even matters. This seems meant to be more atmospheric than gory, and minus a few swears Scott could easily make it PG-13. I also can not really blame the studio for being reluctant to give the sort of budget this probably cost to make to a film with an R rating.
