Rock Fans, Why do you feel the need to insult Rap?

I am just wondering. Please don't assume I am trying to Insult Rock because I'm not, I listen to it also. Well thought out answers are welcome...

For me, it's because Rappers are egotistical, pompous A-holes. They aren't boxers, so there's no need to act so tough all the time.

I don't have a problem with all rap, I mean, some stuff I've heard is good and I do like some artists. But the majority of rappers are tools. Kanye West has great music but boy is he big headed.

Also, rap feuds are ridiculously unneccessary. Like I said, they aren't boxers so stop trying to act like one. These people are meant to be responsible adults.

I do not insult Rap. In fact, I love Rap, especially Kanye West. I love his new album :)

that is what I call commercial rap, that s*cks. Personally I like the stuff rappers bring out just before they become loaded. It's way better than that commercial junk.

I like Rap...all music genre'shas a more commercialised homogenous sector....I just choose to ignore them :)

but rap that talks about life and stuff that is actually poetry set to an infectious (i mean that in a good way:P) beat is really good.

But judging the genre on the popular videos is just as bad as the rap fans that say rock sucks because of emos. There is really good rap as well.

Probably because of its mass popularity at the moment. Probably because of the 'unwritten rule' that you must have a dislike for the genre in an effort to boister your own. But, it's most likely because of the "Hey, let's throw crap on the airwaves and see what sticks" mentallity of producers and Clear Channel suits. But who really knows. I just know that I was one of them, downing it for its subject matter, downing it for its sound and downing it for how easy it seemed until someone beat me upside the head with a Black Star album and I was brought back into reality.

Right......only a few bad apples talking about murder and crime in that rap there. And it would be racist for a white guy to be against blacks who are only serving thier community by blasting rap screaming about funness of a murderous rampage.
