Its not that i'm against Rock Music ( I love Aerosmith , Jon Bon Jovi , Linkin Park ,Billy Talent ETC ) ... I think POP music is vastly superior to Rock . Rock Music can be very loud and over the head at times . POP music has greater contribuition to music world and has better lyrics, catchy rythmn ( Michael Jackson , George Michael , Madonna ) .

P.S -

Please don't bring Justin Beiber or Rebecca Black as POP stars into the discussion .They are a disgrace to POP music ... imo. Take example of Lady Gaga instead amongst recent times ,most popular pop star after madonna and Beyonce Knowles .

Really don't like most pop, by contrast there's a good amount of rock that I like. Rock by far.

First of all, this should be a poll. Secondly, really, TC? Really? You think pop is better then rock? Disgrazia.

Considering pop = popular music, I don't see why you're so surprised that someone would like something that's popular. >_>

You can't say "Popular music is superior," then remove popular music from the equation. It doesn't work like that.

Pop is formulated to be catchy and addictive. That doesn't mean it's better, it just means it's doing its job.

They aren't mutually exclusive. Rock music can be pop music. But for the sake of this, rock by far.

Depends what the definition of pop is, it is hard to distinguish because through time pop has always changed. Like it was big band music in the 40's, then Buddy Holly/Elvis came along and rock and roll became popular, then you had like disco in the late 70's early 80's, then probably hair metal, then grunge.. etc. Now popular music is like electronic euro dance pop. Metallica are a pop band, yet people will probably put at least their first 4 albums in the thrash metal genre. I would say a lot of my music is popular stuff at one point, but I really don't know where to draw the line as to what is pop and not, I would say most if not all my music is people signed to labels and have had some exposure at some point. Even smaller bands like the meat puppets I would say are pop as they are fairly popular amongst grunge enthusiast and the likes of slint and godspeed you black emperor are well known with the post rock fans.

I don't think pop music is better than rock and I certainly don't like a large majority of it.

To each their own I guess, but I vastly prefer rock. Besides, rock has a far larger veriety of subgenres and covers a greater range than pop.
