Well, you can kinda play EVE for free if you make enough money in-game to pay for your subscription. At least, that's what I do.

And Freelancer is kinda like Diablo 2 to me. I've been playing it since I was little, but it hasn't gotten old yet, and multiplayer for both games keeps bringing me back.

They were put down, but then someone made a global server workaround that allows people that are hosting servers to submit their addresses to a database that's uploaded into the game client on the server list. There's still plenty of populated servers around just like before.
