I was walking to a bus stop, and I saw one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life: a giant picture of Ron Paul's face imposed on the side of a bus. It was an advertisement for his coming here. He will be answering questions. I intend to ask him a question for my book. I had to share this because I am so happy. I am so happy that I will meet a man who is my equal. I will meet a man who has earned my respect, my admiration, and my love. The man who inititiated the Liberty movement will meet the man who will complete it. This thread is a celebration of my life and a celebration of liberty. It is a celebration of rational self interest and laissez-faire economics. It is a celebration of all that I have accomplished to give me this opportunity to meet another great man. Now I understand how Rearden felt when he was so eager to meet Francisco. This is what he felt.

Ron-Paul.jpg

Please use this thread to celebrate the accomplishments of Ron Paul's life. To celebrate his work as a physycian, as a congressman, as an educator, and as a leader. He is a good man.

Heckle him! Hehe, nah, enjoy the event, buddy. ;) Although, do try to ask questions that put him on the spot, as opposed to generic questions - makes it far more interesting.

I can think of more beautiful things than that, and more beautiful faces than Ron Paul's

A man determines his dignity by the standard of living that he maintains for himself. Regardless, not all people are of equal greatness. For example James Taggart is a much lesser man than Hank Rearden, Obama is a much lesser man than Ron Paul, etc.

I haven't heard of either of them. Obviously not everyone is of equal "greatness", talents, position, or accomplishments, but that gives them no right to lord things over other people.

I could think of worse ideas, like Nazism or "Marxist-Leninist-Mao Zedong thought". Though yes libertarianism, like any political philosophy, if taken to extremes and applied overzealously can be flawed and problematic.

It does not matter if he has more "prestige" among the general public for his holding of the presidency. A rational man understands that he is not a great man. A rational man also understands that Obama's wealth is not indicative of his success in life because it is wealth obtained by lies. He is a liar who presented himself as a compassionate man to generate book sales. He is not. Ron Paul's money is legitimate money that he has earned.

Hardest I laughed all day (only because I know you are serious)

& lol at Laih thinking Ron Paul is his equal. Just because you share an idea does mean you are his equal.

There are plenty of things you have said on these forums that Ron Paul or anyone isn't crazy enough to take seriously. Your views on just normal human interactions are ludicrous.

There is nothing wrong with me using the public university system. The government built that system with my money. I have a right to the services paid for with my money. I am not a hypocrite. Ayn Rand herself said that people should take advantage of the government programs they are forced into funding. I will not let my money pay for someone else's education and not my own. And Mingmao I recommend keeping track of Ron Paul's university appearances because he has been making a lot of them since he retired from congress.

That ignorant TV trash (a claim I won't dispute) lives better and has more fun than the vast majority of "good, honest" people. To me Ron Paul is as much a liar as Obama. He's thrown his supposed virtues away on several occasions. Also Laissez-faire and freedom in the same sentence. Ha.

It is not hypocritical. I should not be forced to fund services that I do not use. Other people should not be forced to fund services that they do not use. That is a rational and consistently principled position. I am not going to just let the government steal my money to fund these programs and then act like some kind of altruist and buy private alternatives. I bought a public education, and I will use it, just as I bought a public road network and I will use it. I never should have had to buy those things, but the government made me do it anyways. I will take what I bought because it is mine.

Let's get this straight, Laihendi, unless you're in your 30s and have been working and paying taxes that whole time YOU did not pay for your education. Other people paid for your education so that you can, in turn, get a good job and return that benefit to everyone else. You're too young to have paid more taxes than the benefit you've gotten out of it.
