Rush would crush Obama, but I'd rather see the debate on TV, not on Rush Limbaugh's show.

Well this thread happens to be about a specific radio host. But his post was unnecessary. We all know he's said some stupid things, but in all honesty, who hasn't? I just think that those comments don't make any of his points less valid... But I do agree they were stupid comments.[QUOTE="warbmxjohn"][QUOTE="battlefront23"] I know it doesn't. I just think if you point fingers at one radio show host, you should point fingers at them all.battlefront23
But the fact that he has made NUMEROUS comments like this isn't the same thing assomeone who makes a one-time slip of the tongue.
[QUOTE="observer77"][QUOTE="battlefront23"] *face palm* You hate it him for his aggressive opinions, yes? Well you should look at the mirror...battlefront23
aggressive? no,I would say they are simple narrow minded silly and not very well thought threw.
But so are yours. :| To be heard by both sides, you must not throw in any unnecessary adjectives. :Pyes and I am a 19 year old college student who's opinion doesn'tmake such a bigimpact to anybody as his does, when your a public symbol (as rush is seen as) your opinion should be thought threw before sharing it with everyone of your listeners who may take it as an ok way of thinking. which his thoughts shared are not ok more, and make me sad for humanity.

Ok... GO! Point some fingers.... I'd love to see what you can come up with that is even close to as biased, sexist, and racist as Rush Limbaugh's statements.
I can think of some off the top of my head. Mike Malloy said that Republicans are "domestic terrorists" and should be locked up for treason. Olbermann and a guest on his show called Steele a "self-loathing black guy" Bill Maher said we should execute a "rich, greedy pig" at the super bowl (obviously a joke but you get the idea) Then of course there was Joe Biden, who mentioned during the campaign how nice it was to see a "black politician" who was "clean" and "intellignet" and a "nice guy." Joe Biden also said that you can't go into a 711 without at least having some kind of accent. (which Limbaugh made a joke about at his speech)Well this thread happens to be about a specific radio host. But his post was unnecessary. But I do agree they were stupid comments. When a person addressing the public says things this stupid they instantly eradicate credibility and integrity they may have had. If you are gonna work on the radio TACT should be one of your strong points. And unfortunately I disagree that when discussing the potential outcome of a debate between Obama and Rush its entirely valid to factor in some of the outrageous things Rush has said, as that signifies a potential flaw in one of the debaters. A flaw in one of the debaters logic and reasoning is evidence in the discussion regarding the potential outcome.[QUOTE="warbmxjohn"][QUOTE="battlefront23"] I know it doesn't. But who's the source? From what I've read of your posts, I can tell you definitely lean to the left. Now if I knew some guy who leaned to the right and who happened to watch Olberman, he'd be saying the same type of things you're saying except about a different man. It's all apart of your point of view IMO.Well, let's be objective then. Put Olbermann next to Limbaugh, and their worst statements side by side... can you honestly find Olbermann as obscene as Limbaugh, considering the statements so kindly provided earlier (NAACP, feminist movement, etc.)? The worst I could find from Olbermann was a statement about painkillers and their effect on your ethics.

I think the fact that so many of these comments were made in other mediums makes it all the worse. Talk radio has long been regarded as a dying medium, and the last Republican media stronghold. The fact that most of these comments were made in more mainstream sources makes it worse IMO.I can think of some off the top of my head. Palin insinuating she had foreign policy experience, because "well Russia is right in my backyard"... Is a better example IMO..[QUOTE="3picuri3"][QUOTE="THE_BRUTALIZER"]are you kidding me? lmao.... rush would get destroyed. he just relies on misinformation and republican talking points. the only reason he's so popular is because the majority of people don't want to fact check him and just love his incendiary rhetoric. the man is a joke in all fairness though. truth will defeat lies any day. i would be willing to bet a hundred bucks on this debate, i swear. Even if he does use information, obama probably wouldnt be able to tell the difference, and end up slipping on his words. and because of that, obama wont attend this debate.hahahaha i would love to see that.....rush would kick his ass (NO OFFENSE TO ANY BAMA SUPPORTERS, I DONT WANT TO MAKE ENEMIES.)

bet whatever you want, you'd lose it all. Rush is a dimwitted fool that just relies on republican talking points. his main game is distorting the truth to manipulate the undereducated masses. the only reason he has any power is because he does it so well and has such a loyal following of fans that don't care to fact-check or do their own research. it's farce. and it's sad that so many in the US think he is a force to be reckoned with. mark my words.
Rush will destroy the GOPs chances of stopping Obama short of a second term. quote me, keep it in your sig. he's already sowing such obviously inane seeds and forced Steele to recant in what - 24 hours? 48? this man has the GOP by the short ones - which is pathetic. a man so full of lies and misinformation basically controls the GOP at this point. i honestly feel bad for GOP supporters at this point.... hasn't been this bad in ages.
who would have ever thought that the once proud GOP would end up in the hands of a drug-addled, illegal Viagra prescription carrying, truth twisting radio jockey. it would be like Howard Stern having control of the Liberal party.
Obama wouldn't stoop so low as to debate Rush. why bother. it's just giving him air time and exposure no matter what the outcome is. best you avoid it if you know you'd win - because knowing Rushs audience the majority would think he won or had good points when he clearly lost.
Palin insinuating she had foreign policy experience, because "well Russia is right in my backyard"... Is a better example IMO..warbmxjohnAll joking aside, I think that has at least some validity to it since Alaska is the only state in the union that is literally in-between two foreign countries, and there have been numerous incidents of US and Russian planes and ships encountering eachother and crossing into eachother's space near Alaska.

yes but still the question at hand was of radio host's, just saying, saying "see?" isn't justified when the answer given wasn't giving the answer needed to make the point that was suposed to be made by giving up radio host's names. I mean don't you think?

yes and while your at it Obama why don't you go on the Howard Stern Show and any other people who have a radio show instead of trying to improve the country. Honestly it's not like Rush would be a person who could actually see errors in his ways if somebody pointed them out to him while simultaneously admitting he was wrong so I dont really see the point of doing what he asks.

No... sorry, I don't. Mr. Malloy was referring to the fact that nearly all of the Republicansin the joint session of Congress decided to vote against the economic stimulus package. When our economy is failing, I can't think of a good reason NOT to vote in favor of it, considering that the Republican scheme clearly isn't working. Mr. Steele was referred to by a comedienne, Garofalo, as the black chairman of the RNC, and referred to as suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, which includes her self described "self-loathing." Mr. Biden, as Obama's running mate, and his friend, most likely is not presumed a racist for his comments. I fail to see the racism exhibited by Mr. Limbaugh, when he practically referred to the NAACP as scumbags.

So you think that Malloy has a point in calling for Limbaugh to be arrested for disapproving of the bill? You've given the context for the quotes, but these are all things that were really said. Calling the NAACP scumbags isn't racist. It's just criticising the organization. That would be great to watch. No teleprompter for Obama this time. Hilarity would ensue.jamejameI guess you haven't been paying attention, have you?
I thought I was the only one that thought that. I just want to yell at him (and often do at the TV) Get the @#$! out of your mouth and say what it is you mean! Stutter, stammer, hesitate... I feel my 10 year old nephew can say things clearer and more concisely than the president. From an objective standpoint.
Obama takes a very long time to say anything.
Rush is much quicker.

I'd like to see it. Obama would do far better than the neo-cons in this thread think.
It would have to be at a neutral site though. Going onto Limbaugh's show (where he has all the power) would be a mistake.
The debate would also have to be structured. Definitely don't let Limbaugh set the agenda.
I've never heard of this Limbaugh. Neither did I know Obama smoked. :|
I probably wouldn't watch it, sounds like a waste of time to me.
I wouldn't expect George Bush to debate Michael Moore so why would I expect Barack Obama to debate someone of similar reputation?Sajo7

Dude is a political poison pill. You haven't actually heard Obama speak lately, have you? This really wouldn't be that interesting, Rush would just ask one damning question after another and Obama would just give answers that would have nothing to do with the questions and end every statement with the word "change".

[QUOTE="DaBrainz"]You haven't actually heard Obama speak lately, have you? .....Thats a typical Obama answer to a tough question actually. The guy's a helluva talker and charismatic, but lets be real. The guy could give a speech about his socks and you'd walk away thinking you heard something life changing and inspiring. Rush is just doing this for more publicity. Looks like its working. This really wouldn't be that interesting, Rush would just ask one damning question after another and Obama would just give answers that would have nothing to do with the questions and end every statement with the word "change".

Last time was last month when he had that open press conference answering questions about the stimulus package. He had no interest in really answering the questions, he just gave non-cohesive lip service as he transitioned into why it was the republicans fault. I would expect the same response if the questions came from rush.
