Our military isn't in shambles, it is just too widespread for another confrontation.
And I think we should just ignore Venezuela from now on. Their leader is almost as stupid as Iran's. We have nothing to worry about unless we instigate something.
That picture suits what he said so well.[QUOTE="Buddha_basic"] Americas military is in absolute shambles adn so is our economy.The_Ish
EDIT: Wow. 7000th post. I can't believe I wasted it quoting that. :|
what does venezuela have to do with anything? It seems to me that this is just a muscle flexing technique being used by Russia. For some reason I believe they want the world to think they still matter, and showing off how big your military is, is generally the best way to do it. Just look at America for examplejohnnyv2003
we buy oil from them.

who don't we buy oil from?
Russia has confirmed they will be sending several warships + 1000 troops in November to Venezuela after Hugo Chavez declared a strategic alliance between the two, to protect Venezuela from America. And yes, Chavez was quoted "Go ahead and squeal, yankees" in reference to US concerns about this. Anyone else a little concerned about this? Russia is just begging for another cold war. Americas military is in absolute shambles adn so is our economy.Buddha_basic
Russia isn't begging for another cold war. Are they the one on the offensive, and pressuring the USA?
No. It's the other way around. Russia is the one being pressured by the US and other NATO countries, and suddenly, when it goes to help some other countries out, it's "begging for a cold war"?
Please.
What does it matter if Russia sends tropps to Venezuela?
"Americas military is in absolute shambles"
Compared to Russia's military?
duxup
my thoughts exactly.
America's army is not in shambles. You do realize that A.) we have the best equipped army, and B.) a lot of has actual combat experience. Ya, shambles is essentially the opposite of what the US military is in.
As for the situation, meh...its their country, so long as they dont give him nukes, thats cool. If they do, we gotta strike ASAP though, that guy has it out for the US (though he claims to like Amerian citizans oddly enough).
Guys, its all about oil.
And revenge.
The situation is this: Russia and the US made some sort of deal concerning a pipeline through Georgia. This was back before and during the Clinton administration. In short, Clinton screwed Russia on the deal but Russia was too busy dealing with post- Communism stuff to care about it. This is why there is the conflict now, and why the US is compelled to side with Georgia (fighting for independence, right...) and why Russia even bothered in the first place.
Now that Russia is an up-and-comer and entering the modern political economy, they feel wronged and now theyre seeking revenge. The best way to do this is via oil. So now Russia is going to Venezuela (they have oil) because Venezuela hates the US, and so does Russia, but Russia cant really say that so they have to come up with some excuse to side with the dude that hates the US so they can do it vicariously
just my two cents
I love people who have no idea what they are talking about....:)

I love people that make cynical albeit neutral statements in an attempt to come off as wise....:)
Come off, spout off what you really think...sure, you might come off as an ass, but its fun! Hypothesize, theorize, research...it doesnt matter!
Chaves is just an inestable child and russia apparently support that.
And yes i'm worried about it because i live on Colombia (next to venezuela), several time chavez has insulted to our president and openly supported the guerrilla terrorist here, we have been almost on war many times.

lol right now I am thinking that, if anyone actually supports Venezuela to spite the US, theyre an ass.
Sorry, guys, but it seems the US would be the good guy in this situation...

Why take the time?...this kid doesn't care about the truth....no-one does anymore.....only thing people care about are their own narrow and uneducated point of view usually instilled unto them by a teacher or professor that sees their position as a means of passing on their own political viewpoints...... and they'll argue it to the death......no one reads...no one knows history anymore...

damn, dude, you depressed the hell out of me. Russia is invading Venezuela, and Omni casts gloom on society. And now I gotta go to work...
awww man. The world is what you make it; you can find history lovers all over the place, you just gotta look a bit. Readers? Theyre there, too...sure, it might be a trashy book but, dammit, we read for entertainment as much as we do for education. As for views, I think people form their own a lot more than you think.
US military, while stretched across the world. Is still capable of holding it's own against Venazula and 1000 men and a few Russian Warships.
Venazula is irrelavent to the US. Chavez is a complete moron. Their country could never hope to overcome the United States.

I love how people think they know but in reality we dont know anything. My opinion and only my opinion since I havent seen a real facts myself and that goes for everybody else too. I feel that a WW is coming and US is pushing for it more than anything. September 11th is complete BS in my eyes because from the US media it was mostly Saudis on those planes and the US is attacking Afganistan and Iraq which in my eyes make absolute zero sense. Iraq has nothing to do with what happen on sept 11. Why are they being attacked? WMD? Well that was false from what I know so why is the war still going on? Iraq and afganistan have been attacked. Iran and Venezuela are on the horizon. When will the US stop fighting wars? Since 1776 the US has been fighting wars pretty much non stop. If the US wants to show their supremacy then show it without war and really help the world out. Right now US citizens are getting worked harder than ever and every little mistake corporations make we pay for them. If everybody reads the financial news, Airlines, Mortgage(freddie mac), Auto industry, and etc are going to be or are being bailed out by the Government as the news would tell you but in reality we the US tax payers are bailing these companies out with our hard earned money. That money the Government uses to bail them out comes from us. Why should we pay for a corporation's mistake? Nobody bails us out for any of our financial mistakes. This country is hitting a bubble and I dont know where it is going but I feel people are going to snap in this country sooner or later. This is what I feel and from what I see.
Bedies Oil, is Venezeula of any importance to us anyway?
If Chavez really wants to do damage, just cut off oil. Instead is is acting like a kid about some of the stuff he does.
Edit: That is a real question, honestly, i don't know too much about Veneezuela, i just don't follow it.

Funny because the same was said about Iraq and afganistan. Now how long has it been? Oh yeah the same was about Vietnam but who got the whoopin. You guys forget that there is no good guy in war. Also Chavez has never threaten the US but the US has threaten Venezuela. Is Chaves good or bad? I dont know because I never met him. As for that comment he made, I would like to see the latin paper say that.

You are right but History is also bias since most of it is about war and the winner of the war writes history no matter who was good or bad.

I don't think you actually understand how long the first two wars lasted and how badly we were actually beating the Vietcong.

The reason Iraq is taking so long is because of nation building, not the war itself. The "war" ended some time ago. What's happening now is the US is having trouble installing a stable government.
