Assad has already shown himself to be ruthless in killing his own people but I don't understand why they would use chemical weapons knowing the consequences. EJ902
This. It doesn't make any sense. He's already slaughtering the rebels with conventional weapons, he has no need to gas civilians and bring the UN on his ass.
It was also odd that the gas was watered down. When Saddam used gas on his own people the footage was horrowing; entire neighborhoods were ghost towns with bodies just lying wherever they were stood when the gas hit.
Do you believe the Syrian govt was behind the chemical attacks or do you think it could have been the rebals like Russia thinks.
