Yep. I was a competitive little bugger in junior high and high school, and one day I arrived in grade 10 French cIass to find out that I had completely forgotten about a test. So I hid my open text book under my desk and used the 'trust factor' I'd built up with the teacher to get away with it. And realizing how easy it was, I took the liberty of doing it several more times in that cIass, focusing my time on studying other course work instead of French.
It's the only real regret worth regretting that I have from high school. A very poor but accurate reflection of my character at the time. But fortunately, I outgrew the 'win at all costs' notion by the time I hit university. It doesn't serve a person well.
Other than that, I tried to help ex-girlfriend cheat by writing her fugue for her in a university theory cIass. But she didn't accept it (ironically, one of her friends wanted to use it instead... but I didn't let her :P). I don't feel at all guilty about that. Asking a 2nd year theory student to write a fugue is pretty dumb in the first place, and this time, my heart was in the right place.
In my freshman year in high school, I took a French test about telling time I believe. I wasn't doing so gracefully in French so I had the urge to cheat even though I knew some of the test. I decided to write down things I had difficulty remembering on my hand so I would use it during the test. It turns out, I didn't even use it. I finished the test and made a very good grade on it. However, I was ashamed of myself because I accomplished nothing by cheating.
I must remark though that pianist's story is quite unusually similar to mine.
I used to copy homework all the time. Did it before class, right after class, done it right after I got it, sometimes in class right before its due, even right infront of the teacher. I really didn't care. Actually, most of the homework that I've turned in, I copied. But most of the homework that I've had, I didn't do and turn it.
Still do sometimes in college.
But as for quizes and texts/exams, I dont cheat or copy. Not worth it, if I dont know it, I dont know it, and dont deserve to get it right. I've done it before, but I usually feel dirty afterwards. I only do it if its for a class that I think is completely useless and I dont really need to know it, and I have to pass it. In college though, not worth the effort. I'd get kicked out of the class an loose my own money, and they made it alittle harder to do.
No on both, although I'm not the goodie goodie, back when I was in school I just didn't bother doing homework period, so there was no way anyone could copy me. :P
As for tests, usualy I did good without much effort, but if I didn't study and had no clue how to answer then I just left the test blank.
I almost always cheat. On tests I write stuff on my hands, desk, or a tiny scrap of paper. For homework I'll try to do as much as I can but if I get tired I'll copy form a friend.R0cky_Racc00n
Pretty much the case for me and most of my friends. Which can sometimes cause a problem when assignments are due and we all were counting on copying each other.
