Finally, schools are going to start being places of Education and not places of Religious Propaganda.

Lots of backlash though, mostly from Christians, they seem to forget that America is based on freedom, not control.

This is a great leap forward socially as well as a huge step in the betterment of Western Society.

Hope other countrys follow suite, less religion and more love.

Is this great? or do some people here think its bad?

Yeah, its a free country, kids should be able to go to school without having religion stuffed down their throats, IMO

unless of course they go to a religious private school affiliated with churches, than thats fine.

MISLEADING THREAD TITLE

One of several things occurred:
1. TC did not read the article
2. TC did not understand the article
3. TC intentionally created a misleading topic

but said the adviser was mistaken.

"There is not a ban on religious music," Hutner told Fox News & Commentary. "Religious music is a part of the concerts we have from elementary through high school. We do not restrict music within our programs."

Hutner said the adviser incorrectly told Curran that the music could not have any religious overtones. She said the adviser had based that decision on information she had received from a former principal.

What did Jesus ever do to warrant this? We gotta stop treating illegals like this, it's getting out of control.

Yeah, since Christians aren't the only people who attend school, it wouldn't be fair to those who have different religious views.

given posting history, I would bank on a combo...but not one that is evenly distributed (more '1' and '2' than '3')

I really don't mind people singing about Santa, it's the other religious stuff that I feel doesn't belong in school. Santa Clause today feels like more of a secular figure than a religious one.

There does seem to be an inverse relationship between religiosity and education, low crime rates, low poverty levels ect.

This is incredibly racist. I had a friend named Jesus - pronounced "hey seuss) and that's a fairly common name in some hispanic communities. These kids deserve every right to attend school. Shame on you liberals and your anti-diversity ways.

Mmm... according to the very article, the school district stated that the advisor was incorrect. So what is the issue here? That a low-level high school manager made a mistake? (and don't read the comments - your very IQ is at risk)

Why not just ban ALL Christmas celebrations? It's a holiday based on the birth of Jesus. If they were really trying to not be "belief specific" they wouldn't celebrate it at all. I don't celebrate any other religion's holidays because I'm Christian.

hmmm, I wonder what would happen if western society actually was successful in removing religion from popular culture. Like no references of Christianity in schools. It would be hard though because the constitution states that we are nation under God. Would the founding fathers be wrong or not really know what they were talking about, idk.

Were the "Founding Fathers" some sort of collective consciousness that presented single, unified statements on all issues prestented to them (it?), or was it more a group of guys with wide ranging opinions, some of whom strongly disagreed with each other? Either of you feel free to answer.

They are the God that created America. They are both one entity, yet many entities. Flesh and bone yet immortal. Abolitionists yet slave owners.
