[QUOTE="Engrish_Major"][QUOTE="GameGuy642003"] Oh, isn't there a clause in the constitution that states one nation under God. Or am I thinking of the pledge of allegiance?

The allegiance, and also the Declaration of Independence, have mentions of God, but afaik the Constitution does not.

Ooohhh ok gotcha.

For what it's worth, it does mention a "Creator".

Totally glad that Schools are getting rid of it, when I was at school I found really boring and repetative. We kept learning the same stuff almost every year

"This time of year is Christmas – whether you want to acknowledge that or not."

This guy knows what's up. It's Christmas and Hannukkah, so the kids are going to be singing songs related to that. I don't understand why people make a big deal out of it.

[QUOTE="GameGuy642003"]hmmm, I wonder what would happen if western society actually was successful in removing religion from popular culture. Like no references of Christianity in schools. It would be hard though because the constitution states that we are nation under God. Would the founding fathers be wrong or not really know what they were talking about, idk.

No mention of Christianity at all would mean that we are taking a step back in terms of education especially historical education. You can't talk about modern society, Philosophical thought, incredibly important Historical data from the last 2000 years, etc, Without talking about and understanding the Christian religion. It was integral in the shaping of western society. Even understanding stresses and fights today require an understanding of Christianity, as well as Islam, Judaism and Easter Orthodox. To say you can't talk about Christianity (or any religion for that matter) in school is to basically throw out a large part of our educational system, either that or teach kids without allowing them to understand the political implications of the times.

+1

I'm a fan of teaching the Bible as historical data, that includes teaching the myths as myths. Teaching the myths as truths means we are indeed being held back in terms of education.

http://radio.foxnews.com/toddstarnes/top-stories/school-yanks-carols-featuring-santa-god-christians.html

Finally, schools are going to start being places of Education and not places of Religious Propaganda.

Lots of backlash though, mostly from Christians, they seem to forget that America is based on freedom, not control.

This is a great leap forward socially as well as a huge step in the betterment of Western Society.

Hope other countrys follow suite, less religion and more love.

Is this great? or do some people here think its bad?

It's based on control. Obama even said it, mentioned a "world order" plenty of times in interviews. "Freedom" is the product they sell, control is the motive.

Obama isn't the be all and end of the US.....he's just president as long as he's allowed to be....which is no more than eight years and might only be four...though I doubt it.

Yeah, its a free country, kids should be able to go to school without having religion stuffed down their throats, IMO

unless of course they go to a religious private school affiliated with churches, than thats fine.

How about Liberal Religion of Leftism? Government can't have competition with opposing views, and freedom...

Why not just ban ALL Christmas celebrations? It's a holiday based on the birth of Jesus. If they were really trying to not be "belief specific" they wouldn't celebrate it at all. I don't celebrate any other religion's holidays because I'm Christian. PS2_ROCKS

Uh... Christmas has evolved into a commercial and secular holiday.. Santa Clause has become the main figure that the holiday is recognized for.. You do not need to be Christian to celebrate the holiday..

this is the hipocresy that i love from religious people. i talk about peace, maybe schools should start talking about me?

they can do all the peace teaching they want, and teach kid to understand why peace is important, why do they have to mention jesus in it? as far as i know im a pacifist and im atheist, maybe jesus is not needed to talk about peace?

It would be nice if schools would teach properly without the interference of religious beliefs. Unfortunately, what I've read was that this school yanked a bunch of songs containing religious overtones because they were afraid of a lawsuit from the ACLU.

This isn't really a victory for anyone and it just shows how our public schools are getting worse, NOT because of getting rid/having religious overtones but rather it's lack of focus on the children's education. But that's another story.

Wait, so Jesus isn't allowed in schools? What, did he commit a sex crime or soemthing? Oh wait, you mean religion, never mind.

I think this is a good thing. If people want to teach religion, you have churches and community centers everywhere and your own home for that. You have to keep things confined and separated. It just wouldn't be fair to kids who are Muslim or Atheist or Jewish.

Its like a Phys Ed class that teaches math also, you don't need to add math because you already have classes and places for math. I'm in Phys Ed now, I want to run and play basketball, not do equations.

The point of this post was?

to point out the level of hypocresy you have, and in your words to show how dumb you are, i say its a good thing they remove religion from schools, which apparently makes me intolerant (lol) then you proceed to insult me in two continous posts because i don't agree with what you obviously think about that. the hipocresy is strong in you

Hmm, I know its not my place to bring in grammar and spelling issues (since its a low blow and doesn't contribute), but I think it is IMPOSSIBLE to try and act superior and intellectual when you can't even spell "hypocrisy" correctly and just toss in (lol) like this is a meme discussion. I actually don't even care what your beliefs are, but if you want to get into a debate on who is right and who is wrong, then you might want to try and seem more well versed then the person you are debating with.

Just a helpful tip, though you also shouldn't call out typos if you are in a debate since that pretty much means you lost and can't really find fault with the real points. I know that might seem "hypocritical" (correct spelling) that I'm pointing out your own flaws in grammar and spelling, but I'm not taking sides here so I'm allowed to point those out in a helpful manner, and I'm just pointing out that you really seem like you don't know what you're talking about against the other guy, who very much looks like he knows what he's talking about.

Sorry for the long post, but the short answer is: Do not act superior to someone if they seem smarter then you in the most basic of issues.

ah the hypocrite has nothing better to say and derails this on my grammar mistakes, english is not my primary language, and i do not act superior, i do am convinced my iq is superior to yours though, let's see you try to write anything in a second language without making mistakes, i bet you dont even know a second language.

Face it, you are a hypocrite and i already showed why in my previous post but you can go on about my writting mistakes im sure i have millions of them. xD
