Sci Fi Channel to become SyFy today

Oh dear...

Sci Fi = Science Fiction...You know exactly what you're getting if you tune into the channel, some science fiction programming. SyFy is both nonsensical and kinda weird. It's pronounced the same as 'Sci Fi', but I guess it's supposed to be edgy or hip or something?

I'm not a big fan of the Sci Fi channel or anything, but what an odd/dumb move.

Thoughts?

I think they are trying to market the fantasy genre as well. SyFy = Science Fiction and Fantasy.

It also mentioned branching out beyond science fiction programming; well, sure, why do expensive stuff like that when you can add wrestling to your basic programming? Not that concerned with it, though, with the passing of the two Stargate series I had interest in. I don't really need to tune in for surreality programming like Ghost Hunters and impossibly crappy SciF- uh... "SyFy Original Pictures"xaos

Is it still going to be listed as SFC in the channel list? If it is, I don't care what the name of the channel is. I like that channel (when it's not playing sub-B grade movies) but oh well.

Wrestling is slowly killing television. It is invading all the good channels and destroying the variety we used to see in television. Wrestling is like the action game in video gaming. :)Vandalvideo

I would call the proverbial action game something like Halo, Max Payne, or other types of genres which largely rely on gratuitous, shallow gameplay. It is seeping into other genres like survival horror and RPG gaming and destroying the things that made those genres unique. Action games are a plague in video games. Vandalvideo

But why is there a "y" after the S? It makes no sense, it would be better if they called it Sci-Fy or just left it at Sci-Fi.
