Once you think of how our planet is placed...(it's not too far from the sun but far enough away) and how complex some of our animals are. The chameleon can camouflage itself, the poison dart frog has its poison from its skin for protection.

Yeah, all you have to do is think.
With the universe containing trillions of stars and even more trillions of planets, it's quite likely that AT LEAST one of those planets would be spaced the correct distance from its corresponding star to be of the correct temperature to sustain carbon based life forms.
And with all the different courses that evolution can take, the different ways in which animals will develop protection is quite staggering.
All you have to do is think it.
