Looks like the satelite hit a "space wall" and cannot go further.  Just goes to show you we shouldn't be meddling with forces we do not understand and were warned about.

"The probe did not measure a shift in the direction of the ambient magnetic field, indicating that Voyager 1 is still within the sun's sphere of influence, researchers said. But mission scientists think the spacecraft will likely leave Earth's solar system relatively soon." What wall? And the Voyager 1 isn't a satellite, it's a probe.

ROFL It's not a wall. It's the edge of the sun's effective pull.

EDIT:

The probe did not measure a shift in the direction of the ambient magnetic field, indicating that Voyager 1 is still within the sun's sphere of influence, researchers said. But mission scientists think the spacecraft will likely leave Earth's solar system relatively soon.

a probe is a satelite.  A wall is a barrier, and space has barriers we cannot penetrate, and for good reason.

I read the article and it said nothing about hitting a space wall.  All the article has said was that the Voyager 1 has detected a new region of space at the very edge of our solar system and that in a few years due to the power supply running out of power some systems will be turned off to prolong the functional lifespan of the probe so further data about the edge of our solar system and the space between solar systems can be better researched.

That is far different then hitting a space wall.

It's not a physical wall. It's like having one of those rotating sprinklers, there's an "edge" where the water doesn't go any further. But it's not due to a wall simply because we can draw a line to represent the "edge" of that sprinkler's effect. Likewise, the sun has an area around it, anything within that area is effected by the sun's gravitational pull. The satellite is leaving the sun's area of effect, and will be drifting outside our solar-system.

There are no "barriers" in space. Neutrinos can penetrate everything.

Neutrinos do not exist. Of course there are walls in space, or else everything would expand rapidly forever.  That wouldn't even make sense.

We don't actually know what the distance is. Nobody has actually measured it with a tape measure.

We know the speed our probe is traveling. We know the direction it's moving, and how long. Physics could give us a nice distance, if we were nasa and had the correct numbers.

Space can warp the value of time and numbers.  You might as well throw darts at a bunch of numbers and hope you hit the right one.
