No! I loved the movie! The budget was 60-90 mil, and they only got 10 mil on the opening weekend? Come on people... I really don't want this to end as a flop. One of the best movies this summer.

I wanna see it, but I never really go to the theatres. Who knows though? Lots of good movies go under the radar.
Yeah, after Kick-Ass and now this, this is probably the last we'll see of indie comics being made into big budget movies for a while.
Which is a shame, because some of them have fantastic stories and characters and style which could be made into just as good if not better movies than big name superheroes, but I guess the big name comic superhero approach is much more financially safe.
I really wanted to see it and so did a couple of my friends, but the movie theatre in my city isn't showing it.
I guess the only thing fans can hope for is that they do the film proper justice when it's released on DVD.
it depends on the nerd population.
i mean wow no matter how much of a nerd you are your going to miss so many jokes and refrences. they litterly have a good 20 jokes and refrences for each type of geek.
like for heavy anime fans there are a ton of little hints at anime in it. and come on one of the charecters looks identical to misa from death note
It was good, but I don't have my hopes up that it'll perform well. It's definitely a nerdy movie, and that doesn't appeal to the majority. I consider myself a nerd too, but when I watched it, I was probably the least nerdy person in the theater, and that has never happened to me before :P. Scratch that; I saw Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Movie Film for Theaters when it was playing.
I think that it's Micheal Cera's fault lol. Him and McLovin play the same person in practically every movie. The only reason i would want SP to do better is for Mary Elizabeth Winstead's sake lol. This, Kick-Ass, and Serenity will for the most part, just be cult favorites that may get thier due later.KurushioSeriously. "Oh boy, a Michael Cera movie. I wonder if he'll awkward himself into a girl's pants after 2 hours."

I doubt it. Avatar opened at #1 with $77 million. This did only $10 mil while opening at #5. The movie has a built in fanbase, but with it opening up against a Stallone flick, a Julia Roberts movie, as well as Inception still doing solid business, it just never had a chance.I could see the Avatar effect happen on a smaller scale here. As in the opening is not incredible, but the numbers grow as people spread the word on how great this movie is.

I am saying this could be a mini Avatar effect. (bad opening, long sale legs)
For the biggest grossing movie of all time, 77 million opening was pretty bad(less than 5% its total). Scott Pilgrim could draw in more people later (like avatar) as people spread the word, as the commercials were not that good. It could very probable gross more than 100 million in the long run.
It looks good, despite never having heard of the comics before. I'll probably go and see it when it comes out over here.Bourbons3
I heard of, but never read the comics. And I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
If you a gamer (as this site implies) you will enjoy this movie.
I don't go to theaters. I might buy it when it comes outLegolas_Katarnthis is what I have to say as well. I really want to see Scott Pilgrim but there isn't a movie theater in my town
Highly unlikely; $10M means fewer people to "spread the word", much more niche genre than blockbuster scifi action, and $10M also means theaters are going to be less prone to leave it running to see if it develops legs.I am saying this could be a mini Avatar effect. (bad opening, long sale legs)

Isn't the movie's target audience the same people who'd be least likely to have the attention span needed to sit through an entire movie?
As much as I want to support Cera and any film that reps Toronto that movie just looks terrible. The concept is so stupid and I don't care how many little wink, wink, nudge, nudge nerd jokes are in a movie that's no reason to see a movie, the internet is way better at making subtle nerd jokes. My friend said he really liked it but unless I was tripped out on shrooms I wouldn't see it.
The previews and trailer weren't very appealing and while I love the Rickenbacker bass, the poster doesn't say much about the movie. On top of the bad marketing, people are kinda getting tired of Michael Cera. :)
10 million is only it's domestic gross, it hasn't really be released else where yet so it's still early days. Hot Fuzz made 23 million domestic but 56 million worldwide, so it's still to soon to tell.heselIt's only made a million dollars overseas,so I doubt this will be a international hit. The reason Hot Fuzz was a international hit was because it had Simon Pegg & Nick Frost, huge stars in the UK. For this you have Michael Cera. Not exactly a box office draw. Not to mention that it's based on a comic that isn't really well known outside the states and Canada.
