I'm English who has Scottish family i can tell you independents isn't what the majority of Scots want and think the rescent by election defeat showed how weak the SNP S grip is over Scotland is the only reason the SNP won the elections back in 2007 is because Labour screwed up so bad and even then the SNP only won by a small margin they dont even have enough seats in the Scottish parliament to push for a referendum with out a coalition of parties which wont happen because none of the big parties support independents and as for Brave heart i think someone on here asked if Scottish people liked that film the answer is the majority hate it its only the silly Nationalists who liked it but most Scots feel disgusted that there countries greatest hero has been made to look like an idiot also its extremely historically incorrect to .

I am Scottish and would rather stay part of the UK. I think the English that live here add a lot. As for the financial side of things, well you hear various stories so impossible to tell really what would happen but instinct tells me it wouldn't get any better than it is.

well obviously the English just colonized Scotland a long time ago, but it's just history I guess. It won't ever happen anyway.quiglythegreat

The Romans invaded Britian but they couldn't defeat the Picts in the north of Britian so they built a wall to keep them in, Hadrians wall, and called this north region Caledonia, after to change from Caledonia to alba i think and then Scotland.

The only discernable reason for independence is a great sense of Scottish nationalism, which probably arises from too many nights watching Braveheart.MetalGear_Ninty
I don't think all Scots like Braveheart much. There was a statue of William Wallace that looked like Mel Gibson and it got vandalised so much they put it in a cage, which was ironic.

[QUOTE="peeviness"]

United Celtic Kingdom imo.

Leave the Brits out.

UNHOLY_basic

the brits are actually of celtic descent. the whole idea of an anglo saxon genocide of celtic people wasnt actually true as genetic studies show.

the Scots & Welsh are Celtic descent most English are mix of Anglo Saxon (Germanic) & Celtic .
