okay so there's that click it or ticket law which forces people to put on their seat belt. WHY?!? it's MY life and MY risk so leave me alone! it should just be a frowned upon thing and not enforced by big government. not wearing a seat belt feels good to some people so why should they get pulled over for feelin goood? are seat belts a violation of rights?

Well, one of the biggest causes of trauma in multi-passenger cars is the projectile of a human being flying into you. It often causes serious injury when the accident may have otherwise not been that serious.

TBH, part of me agrees. You're not going to endanger anyone but yourself by being a fvcking idiot. I'd say there should be no law against not wearing a seatbelt or a helmet.

Hyperbolic title but I actually agree with his post. If people want to be idiots and not wear a seatbelt/helmet, let them.

THIS SO HARD! Flying out of the car can disrupt traffic and make it an even bigger accident.

Once again, OP proves how stupid he is. There's worse things out there than complaining about seatbelts.

If people want to be idiots and take precautionary safety measures that could possibly save their lives and other people's, they should be fined for it. It's such a non-issue to complain about.

Agreed, how can a government allow the sale of cigarettes and tobacco while enforcing this? The craziest thing is some states enforce wearing seatbelts, but helmets for motorcyclists are optional. Talk about some ass backwards logic.

Well, in MA, you can only be fined for not wearing a seat belt if your pulled over for violating another law. I don't see the point of actively enforcing it but it doesn't hurt to just wear a seatbelt. I don't mind wearing a seatbelt one bit.

Back in the 90's when I first got my licsens it wasn't mandatory to wear your seatbelt. I was in 12 car accidents and not one of them was I wearing a seat belt. I never got hurt seriously. I think seatbelt laws are total BS. It's nothing but laws in favor of the insurance companies.

One accident I was T-boned by someone doing 50 mph. The cops gave the cars a score 1-5 5 being the worst. My car was a 5 the other drivers was a 4. My passanger door was smashed and 12 inches from leg in the drivers seat. Ever window in the car shatterd. The dashboard popped out and was in the back seat.

Another time I was on the freeway coming home late at night. I fell asleep at the wheel doing 70mph. When I woke up I was going off the road so I jerked the wheel. The car started spinning on dry pavement. I did 2 total 360's and went off the road. The car flipped over end once. I walked away with nothing but a few minor cuts from broken glass. I wasn't wearing a seat belt in this one either.

All the other accidents were minor. I was late for school and hit a coka cola truck. I rear ended a little old lady.

All of these accidents happend before I was 21. I was smoking a lot of pot when I was younger. The funny thing I'm 35 and haven't been in a accident since I quit smoking pot 14 years ago.

I got a solution. You don't have to wear a seatbelt, but if you get into an accident the paramedics are required to leave you there. If you make a stupid mistake, nobody is under any obligation to help you. But if you want to use anything funded by anybody but you, then you are required to obey by whatever non-bigoted rules they put into place for their use.

12 accidents. Sounds like you're a pretty crappy driver, so it's no wonder why you think that NOT wearing seat belts is fine.

Not true. Seat belts keep people in their seats and prevent them from being thrown. If you are the driver, seat belts allow you to remain in your seat so you can steer the car to avoid a second collision, which would risk not only your life but the lives of your passengers and those in other vehicles.

"Crime against humanity and liberty" is pushing it, but I agree to an extent. Seat belts are certainly a good thing and should be worn by everyone, but I don't see it as something that should be forced upon everyone. If some idiot doesn't want to wear a seat belt, why make him? I don't recall ever hearing of someone hurting anyone else due to not wearing a seat belt.

I'll try to make this as clear as possible. THEY OWN THE ROADS, THEREFORE THEY CAN TELL YOU TO DO WHATEVER THEY WANT WHILE YOU USE THEM. Did the all caps text make it clearer? I hope so, it's a pretty simple concept to understand.

Well, ****, unless you have your own private road, you're going to have to agree with certain regulations. Look, I don't to be waiting at a stop light and have some jack ass who doesn't wear a seat belt get flung towards my car after some other jack ass decided to ram into him.
