I'm pretty sure he's saying you need to see something in order to believe it. Tell him something that you can't see but still believe in and he'll prove you wrong.
...I think. His post could use some re-wording. :P
ok I get it now thanks. I'll think of something...[QUOTE="KLAX42"][QUOTE="Mario2007"]We can see air, even though we can't see it. Mario2007
I'm afraid I'm not as conceptual as you. :?
You'll have to elaborate.
I'm tired, and I just felt like posting something really random.can't you all post slowerRowClaIf our posting speed drops below 50 mph, OT will explode. Don't blame me, blame Dennis Hopper.
Reality scares many people, and it is most unfortunate.
Visual interpretation is the best a sober individual has to go on. Other interpretations are compromised, at best.
Hello there. :)
"Seeing Is Believing" is a term that generally means experiencing something is the only way to validate it's existence. Although the other senses are not mentioned by name, they are indirectly implied within the context of the idea.
So anything you can hear, smell, taste, and feel... are also included.
If any human sense could ever possibly be validated as "real", it would have to be the un-chemically influenced one, and even that cannot be empirically validated.
Given the nature of life to adapt to it's surroundings, I would say that a Human's un-chemically influenced concept of reality would be the best one to go by, as the "real deal", or as close to it.
I'm not sure if anyone understands my topic, what i am saying is not what can not be seen is not real i am saying that what can be seen is real!RowClaHallucinations?
Feeling is better beleiving.123625
I drunkenly rule myself out as I speak, but "feeling" does NOT overrule rational thought, though I currently rule myself out.
Hallucination & dreams are pictures submitted from the mind, so you could say you are looking at these things with you're minds eye, and this topic is for seeing with your ordinary sight, you see?RowCla
Why ain't I buyin' it? I am a big fan of meditation and hypnotherapy (when I am sober), but I just smell a turd here. I should be drunk more often...

you see it whilst partially unconscious so it is a bit like a dream in the endRowClaSo your definition for seeing only includes seeing things that are real? I think you have kind of set things up in favor of your original premise here...

No, I see it as a sober person who knew better all along, but who gets drunk and blurbs his spiel to "whoever", and then wakes up the next morning with a bad hangover and wonders why he bothered doing what he did, if he remembers the full extent of it at all.
lots of people say it isn't but i cant think of anything that's not, so can someone post something that they think is not and i will probably prove you wrong or maybe not.RowClaWhat about people on hallucinogens, or when it is dark, or or so on. Something might look black in the dark, but I don't believe that.
We can see air, even though we can't see it.[QUOTE="Mario2007"][QUOTE="KLAX42"]Air?KLAX42
I'm afraid I'm not as conceptual as you. :?
You'll have to elaborate.
We can see the direct effects of the air, which allows us to see its presence. Air distorts light, and oftentimes air (or at least a difference in the relative properties of air) can be visible to the naked eye. Take for instance, desert mirages or the hot air rising off of the pavement on a hot summer day.
Also, a common tactic that is used to "see" an invisible medium is to disperse something into that medium. If you breath smoke into the air, you can see PROPERTIES of the air, such as the direction and speed that it is moving. One can observe the EFFECTS of air, even though we can't actually see the air.

What about hallucinations?
If I see the walls bleed because I'm tripped out on acid, that doesn't mean that the walls were REALLY bleeding.

Surely you are talking crap. I am a Chemist by profession. I don't buy BS unless it's really cheap and has the potential of getting me extra-maritally laid.
what on earth do you mean my definition only includes things that are real? I already explained what dreams are
RowCla
Dreams are random REM subconscious sleep patterns- nothing more, nothing less. One cannot induce theta patterns by listening to lame audio recordings.
You need a reality check. Sorry.
