It's definitely up there. It used to be my all time favorite show, until Dexter came along.

I think it's pretty funny. The only sitcom I could ever really enjoy.

The Sopranos is the only other show that I would say I can still watch and enjoy along with Seinfeld.

I watch the reruns at night all the time. The characters themselves arent drop dead funny, but they're interesting because they have qualities that most of us would get slapped for. (Jerry is shallow when it comes to women, George is obnoxious, etc). The show has situational humor, meaning the characters find themselves in any number of odd locations/events, etc, moreso than the characters being funny.

I've tried watching it a few times and find it altogether unfunny, but I generally hate the pacing of most sitcoms since, say, I Love Lucy

That is the truth. You can relate to them in terms of the situations they find themselves in sometimes.

I love Curb Your Enthusiasm, but I don't think it's better than Seinfeld.

I laughed so hard when I first saw this.

Yes, it is one of the best shows ever in my opinion. Not THE best...but up there. There are NO bad episodes. Theres no point in which the series went downhill and went off the air because of bad press. They stopped in their prime, and thats why itcontinues to beone of the greatest shows ever. I think it'll be on for generations to come.

Top 5 (comedy)

  1. Seinfeld
  2. Scrubs
  3. Arrested Development
  4. South Park
  5. The Office
  6. (runner up is It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia - my GF can attest to that she got me on the show)

Not sure about the best, but one of my all-time favorite shows and very deserving of the praise it gets. Strangely Seinfeld was my least favorite character on the show.

I know a bunch of magazines had it as one of the best earlier this decade and a few had it as the best. It was up there with The Sopranos, The Simpsons, and I Love Lucy. I am watching The Contest episode right now and it still cracks me.

Do I seriously have to watch the entire series before I can decide if I want to watch the entire series? I saw 4 episodes, including what seems to be widely considered one of the defining ones of the series, and barely cracked a smile. I'm just saying it's not my cup of tea, not that it or people who like it are bad. Are you really invested in arguing whether or not I like the show?

Can you give an example? I'm referring to Aaron Sorkin-type stuff; the thing that immediately popped into my head with Seinfeld doing wordplay is stuff like the guy thinking the woman's name is "Mulva" or the "can't double dip the chip" guy, neither of which is funny to me.

Act cool? Sooo...you are "cool" if you like it, and "uncool" if you don't? OR, you think people who say they don't like it are veiwing themselves as "cool" for saying so? weird.

Nope, I've never sat down and watched a whole episode so I can't really give it a fair judgment but the pieces I've seen haven't really interested me.

He's not supposed to be likable.

And yes, Seinfeld and CYE are two of my favorite shows. My favorite CYE is where Larry goes to the incest survivors meeting, hilarious.

It's also one of the only shows with a laughtrack I can stand and the only one I consider myself a fan of. Although I do loathe laughtracks, I don't find they rely on it as much as other shows. There are very few, "que laughter here," moments as opposed to other certain laughtrack shows.

All 4 of the original members of Seinfeld are going to be in the upcoming season of CYE.
