You have to be careful not to hurt other people's precious feelings. They are quite sensitive.

Franken was a comedian... he has made jokes about a lot of things. Are we supposed to have a world without humor? The adverts paid for by the GoP in MN are a joke trying to paint him as some sort of out of control Democrat sexist / racist or something. They're hilarious.

Well I'm from Minnesota and I'm voting for Al Franken. Like hell if I care if he makes fun of religion.

I hate Norm Coleman (incumbant), and I'm not voting for him that's for sure.

They really are, they even attack him for making porn jokes and woman jokes in his past. Hell the man was on SNL and a writer for it.

Ooh that's right, they call him a pornographer too!

Coleman meanwhile promotes that he's dropping negative adverts due to the economic crisis .... because the GoP is paying for them.

anti-christian.... so what?bsman00

if the senator was talking bad about an ethnic race everyone would be crying bloody murder but because its bashing of christians everyone sees no problem in it . (big suprize) not that i take any of bsman's posting serious but its a problem rampant all over these boards too. everyone pretends to be pollitically correct, yet they mock christians with no shame, no one says anthing about the disgusting monstrosities carried out by muslim extremists but when it comes to your friendly christian neighboor you would want nothing less to crucify him for his beliefs. this makes you look extremly ignorant and unintelligent, in case you thought you were being smart or cool.

Apparently Al Franken(stein) is running for senate and he has a history of mocking Christianity and in particular of insulting Catholicism. An example is when he said "isn't Cardinal O'Connor an a**hole".

What are this guy's chances of actually being Senator if he is so disrespectful towards a large portion of Americans?

JoeRatz16

Few on the left will care as proven above, but if this was Islam they be crying for his blood. Ant-Christian bigotry is not only tolerated in America but encouraged and rewarded. No wonder so many hate us! And here I thought bigotry was wrong no matter who it was against, silly me.

This isn't SNL anymore. He is running for office now and it exposes what a massive bigot he is and that should never be tolerated by our public officials.

People cannot choose their ethnicity, so blaming or hating them for that is unreasonable. However people CHOOSE to be christians, something that is a choice, and like every choice in life people can criticize it.

It's their right, as long as they don't infringe on your rights let them be. And if they do infringe on your rights don't attack their religion because there are millions who don't do that, just go after them trying to force their beliefs on you. Meaning you make it clear we don't have a problem with your beliefs or religion, we are tolerant of it and support your right to believe it, but we have the right to NOT believe it and demand you stop forcing it on us. We don't want you to stop being whatever, we just want you to stop focing us to be it.

So as long as scientologists don't harm you let them be whatever they want, if it hurts them or is wrong thats their problem, not yours.

Secular. They have rights to, let them have a religion and as long as they force it on me I see no issue with it.

I don't want this subject to blow up into any big proportions, but would Al Franken like it if there were virulent anti-Jewish remarks being made by senators? Would society at large stand for it?

All you need is a little respect and courtesy, it doesn't cost a penny but buys everything. And this is doubly true for those entrusted with power especially at the national level who need to look out for all their citiens within their jurisdiction.

youre making a big deal about this.

saying something like that isint "anti christian". Chill out.

"anti" is a strong word in ways, and in your way...he is not anti at all... He's just talking his feeling.

I agree, I honestly can't take the double standards people give to minorities but if it involves the majority, its fair game? Screw that, if I say I'm not a racist yet only treat my equality towards minorities, I'm still a RACIST. At the same token, if people claim they are respectful to religious beliefs that means they must respect all religious beliefs. They can't bash Christians yet at the same claim they are politically correct when they just bashed a religion that 1/3 of people in the WORLD believes in. I really can't take this BS either.

It's one of the reasons why I barely post here now and why my tolerance for people claiming to uphold standards to please the minority at the expense of the majority, is at a low.

You do realise you can say a lot against Islam in America nowadays and get away with it. Of course there are limits but nonetheless you should see what was being said about Obama. Keith Ellison is another one. And don't forget hate speakers like Ann Coultter.

I find it funny how many Americans still don't realise that there is plenty of discrimination and disparaging remarks made about Muslims that don't get filtered or censored at all. Go pick up tabloid newspapers for starters.

Questioned? Certainly, in a manner which is actually beneficial. There should always be criticism, especially self-criticism.

Mocked, attacked, belittled, dehumanised... never. That is what I think the other poster was trying to say, but didn't have the ability to eloquently put forth such a viewpoint.

Just like in forums, coridal debate is good, slanging matches and trolling does no one any good. If there is valid criticism then put it forward in a positive way.

I've got nothing wrong with people who put forth their criticism in a valid manner. Constructive criticism, open debate. Not mockery or derision.

And my last post was more targetted to Guybrush_3 who was being hypocritical, he wants more tolerance for his own beliefs and yet wasn't showing the due respect for others.

Well he has a point in some respects.. I think every one should be critical to all beliefs.. But what respect should be given towards organizatiosn like West Boro Church (Cult really..)? Respect is given to the content of their message and actions they do, not because its "fair".

Well to be fair every religion, race, nation and people have their fair share of wackos. It's usually best to use their own idiocy against them.
