So much ignorance and stupidity in this thread... I don't know what's worse.. The guys who can shut up about their pot.. or the ones who can't get over people who smoke weed.
Legalized it, man. Master_Live
This too.. There's really hardly and reason not to at this point.. Even if you don't smoke or consume it.
I'm more concerned about other things right now, to be honest.
Syria, NSA surveillance, the inability of the Obama administration to bring the people who were behind the Benghazi attack to justice. Lots of shit going on in this government right now.
airshocker
Â
Â
NSA and Marijuana>>Syria and Benghazi.
and ffs people are still going on about Benghazi?
Two things need to be done with pot:
1. Make it legal for medicinal use.
2. Reclassify it so it isn't consider a Schedule I drug (seriously, even if you think it's bad, it isn't THAT bad). This way, people won't be arrested and incarcerated for years and years just because they had a gram too much of grass.
Beyond those two things, I don't give a shit.
it's just a Senate hearing, not a floor vote on anything, these go nowhere, they're only stages for political theater and self indulgencelamprey263
Thing is this is the closest congress has gotten to the issue in about 40 years.
So yeah kind of a big deal.

A friend of mine here in CA has a medical marijuana license. He's uses a vaporizer on an hourly basis, every single day, often while driving. He's never been in an accident as far as I know.
I don't advocate using weed that often or anything, but once someone becomes accustomed to it, it has no significant impact on one's driving ability. A total novice would probably be another story.
It doesn't matter if it has different effects on different people, it would need to be treated like it would have the worst possible effect. There would be no way to regulate it differently from person to person.A friend of mine here in CA has a medical marijuana license. You obviously never smoked pot before. You don't sleep all day long. Hardly. If you smoke late at night, then yeah you will fall asleep eventually. But you stay up for a good hour or two after smoking. If you are eating those special brownies, then you may take a nap during the day (since the brownie will likely last you most if not all the day), but throughout the rest you tend to function pretty normally unless you are trying to operate machinary. For me, I tended to laugh quite a bit, think really deep thoughts (or so they seemed deep), and my perception of time was warped beyond comprehension. None of those traits qualify as a douche-bag. In fact, I was generally more polite to everyone. And considering I worked my ass off for four years of college, and I splurged a bit on pot towards the end of it after working on a long undergrad thesis, I would say it was well deserved. But by all means, continue to pigeonhole people. It will just make you look foolish.
My only concern with pot legalization is how we can institute a system to tell how high a person is if they get pulled over and also how do we determine what level of weed intoxication we draw the line at in terms of driving. THAT I see as being a major hurdle, especially with the way weed stays in your system for a while.
Besides that though, I am absolutely for this and expect legalization to happen in the near future which should be fun! ;)

This is a major problem, driving under the influence of any drug should be illegal, but how to determine it might be an issue. My only concern with pot legalization is how we can institute a system to tell how high a person is if they get pulled over and also how do we determine what level of weed intoxication we draw the line at in terms of driving. There actually is a way. Somewhere around ten years ago I hurt my back, the Doctors put me on Oxycontin, after taking it for a while I was up to 360 mg. a day, at the same time I had an opportunity to drive big rigs cross country, when I told my Doctor, he said it was no problem, gave me some tests to check my vision, balance, and cognitive skills then gave me a note that allows me to drive legally while taking Oxycontin.
I can tell everyone from experience that Oxycontin is way way way more debilitating then marijuana. I do agree though that people shouldn't be freely able to drive on it, because the effects can vary greatly between new users, casual users, and daily users. But ultimately some people need it for medical reasons and will need to drive on it, so it should be handled on a case by case basis just like every other medication is today.
