If enacted, the Senate stimulus bill would fund over $100 billion in new government construction projects with the goal of providing additional jobs to unemployed Americans. The House-passed stimulus bill contains explicit language to bar employment of illegal immigrants in these construction projects. However, the Senate bill deliberately omits this language.

Great, I'm glad we're still giving incentives to illegals to cross border illegally.

4 million jobs for Americans? Please.

Currently what passes as a so-called stimulus bill is nothing more than a spending bill. However, further degrading the economy....goood job.

Why do people want to give money to people who aren't eligible to vote or be drafted? I don't understand this logic. We are in America, our country. We pay taxes for these things. These people don't pay taxes and don't have the obligations of American citizens, but they still recieve some of the benifits...

Wrong, the stimulus package (which is more like scam package) has tons of spending programs that doesn't do anything to stimulate economy.

What this bill will do to this country is actually incredibly dangerous and its amazing that it was even constructed. A weak dollar can bring this country to its knees worse than any Terrorist Attack, WMD or Army.

By taxing our businesses that increase our countries GDP, injecting money straight into broken programs, making fake jobs that don't have any legitimate background... This is now how you make money in a country.

How? By giving them tax money? Less expanding big businesses = less expanding GDP which equals less cash flow which also turns into lower amount of tax dollars collected.

No, I would recommend creating a stimulus package that doesn't have tons of wasteful spending programs that doesn't do anything to help stimulate the economy.

So then they are pulling this money out of thin air and making our debt worse... I remember who also did that, President George W. Bush. I remember how much everybody hated him for that. Lowering business taxes and increasing spending, putting us into even more debt.

It all has been broken. Both the republicans and democrats are so caught up in this spending mentality, its ruining our country.

Tax cuts to companies who hire people = more jobs, while business pay less taxes. More jobs = more tax revenue. See how it works?

I don't understand why Obama thinks spending money on anything will stimulate the economy. $460 Million to pencil manufacturers will make more pencils which will make students learn better, while stimulating the Pencil Sharpener industry and increases the amount of people attempting to carve the alphabet in a pencil with a chainsaw which leads to more chainsaw sales, which allows Home Depot and Emergency Rooms to hire more people... The 'jobs' he is talking about don't seem like permanent jobs to me. 2,000,000 houses across the country to weatherized, that'll take a few months...then what?

In theory yes, you are recycling money, not expanding. You are still taking money away from one sector to make up for the spending in another. Taxes must be lowered, spending must be lowered, and the economy must govern itself for true growth.

Exactly. Increasing taxes to make up the loss on fake jobs that rely on the increased taxes which stifle our GDP growth. Smart planning there.

Nothing against that-it's the matter of their methods. The principals of their actions. Concerning employment a law abiding person is going to be able to integrate that much more smoothly socially and economically than the illegals. Also, it allows the hardships of those going through the proper process a step up against those shirking a proper procedure.

When you print money, you devalue it and you cause inflation. Thats a tax, and a COMPLETELY immoral one. This stimulus bill can be devastating to the dollar and will further lead to its collapse. And as I said before, something like a collapsed dollar can bring this country to its knees.

You don't have to do this though. There are other ways than massive government spending. People are talking about cutting taxes, what about cutting the Capital Gains tax to ZERO! Or cutting corporate tax to ZERO! What about getting rid of the income tax and letting people keep what they earn, and instead, maybe just have a consumption tax. Or hell, maybe have sound money, I hear Gold and Silver is pretty valuable these days.

You want to improve the country? Give tax incentives to all the companies currently hiring out from overseas and tax those that do so. You need to get the jobs back HERE and not create temporary, low paying, paper jobs that will not sustain the economy for the long haul. Something the current politicians don't seem interested in.

Illegal immigrants are a necessary evil. They come into our country, and do take jobs away from Americans. HOWEVER, they often take the jobs that Americans don't want. If you've ever really studied economics dealing with that sort of thing, you'd know that if we were to get rid of all illegal immigrants, our economy would tank ever further.

[QUOTE="Engrish_Major"][QUOTE="InterpolWilco"] This stimulus bill can be devastating to the dollar and will further lead to its collapse. And as I said before, something like a collapsed dollar can bring this country to its knees.LJS9502_basic
You're right, it CAN be. But we don't know yet. And I'd rather take the chance and try to improve this country than do nothing and keep on the path we're currently on.

You want to improve the country? Give tax incentives to all the companies currently hiring out from overseas and tax those that do so. You need to get the jobs back HERE and not create temporary, low paying, paper jobs that will not sustain the economy for the long haul. Something the current politicians don't seem interested in.

Really? Then how come Obama's package DOES include those exact things?
