I don't mean to hate on Christianity, but hear me out before getting angry. According to early Christian texts, (Anselm, Augustine, Pascal, et cetera) sex is a complex issue. Sex in and of itself is not sinful. However, an individual person cannot have sex without sinning. There are three ways this happens. 1) One partner idolizes the other partner, instead of God, or 2) The person succombs to the physical desire and loses his or her 'focus', or 3) .... I forget...
Anyway, I studied this last semester. Not this issue exactly, but it did come up. If you disagree with me, read the early Christian writers and form your own analysis.
:)
I'm a Christian and I believe that people should only have sex after marrige, and in the Bible it says to love your wife as you love yourself.
America is a very screwed up country. Corrupt politicains and ignorant citizens. That's ALL there is to it.TERMINAT0R1
im not igrnorant
I think it's so hard history in USA so it's all there, in Europe we have pretty peaceful, ofcourse people dies but no manhunters and sex is not bad and dirty here :Dnaadel
Excluding the multitudes of wars that originated in Europe of course...
Dang, I had no idea that it was ok to shoot someone in the face over here.smokeydabear076

Even then, you're still exaggerating.
If a movie gets shown on TV, a LOT of the R rated violence gets cut out. Someone getting shot in the face is typically something that would get edited for television.
And they DO show characters having sex on TV. It's just highly edited so that you don't see any nudity or penetration.
So I really don't see what the big deal is. They BOTH get edited to hell, so quit acting like they're showing Faces of Death on NBC.
Alot of nudity in Norway. No one really cares that much. Nudity in the comic strips in the monday newspaper? No problem. Nudity on public channels 7 PM? No problem. How is it in america?TheTerribleFish
:shock:Adopt me!!!

I'm not saying that this is the commonly accepted form of Christianity in modern times. All I'm saying is that this is the thinking of the originators of modern Christianity. They were writting in the Middle Ages, so that had an influence on their thinking, but much of that influence is still there today.
America's culture is more deeply rooted in Christianity. In Christianity, despite the commandment "thou shalt not kill", violence is generally acceptable, especially against foreigners and non-Christians (such as in the Crusades, the persecution of American Indians, of blacks, and so on). Whereas sex is very taboo in Christianity, because... well, because they have corks up their asses.chutup
True. The Bible is very big on the killing of those who are different.
And the last line is great. And, unfortunately, usually true.
Why is that here in the American media, its ok to shoot someone in the face or something to that effect while saying sex should be avoided while in Europe Sex is ok and broadcast on tv locally while they are against violence.
I thought this up from some articles I read from Manhunt and leipzig :)
CoolSkAGuy
