lol I put in some US zip codes and there's rapists all over the place! Maybe it's a good thing that Canada doesn't have this kind of website, it seems sex offenders are all over the place :|F1_2004I was hoping there would be one for canada just to check up on how my friend is situated according to this... but I guess it might be a good thing for worries sake not to know, but I would feel much better being informed even if it would make me worry.
Well, that site should be shut down. It's horrible we call ourselves free thinkers and promote such a level of descrimination. Why not just make camps for all the sex offenders.. at least then we don't give them illusion of freedom.
Just an FYI the not all sex offenders are child molesters or rapists. Several have done fairly mundane crimes, or were caught in a stupid law (I.E. He was 18, she was 17, they had been going out for 3 years prior, he had sex with her and now he is a sex offender.)
absolutely right.. but people put them all in the same group.. and actively discriminate against them even after they've been punished. I can't see how a legal system can be effective that way.Just an FYI the not all sex offenders are child molesters or rapists. Use this site. That one you linked is inaccurate.
Assassin1349
TC's link said 7, Assassin's said 426 offenders, 135 non mappable offenders. I like TC's link better.

I personally really don't like that site or the practice of telling everyone where a sex offender is so you can go take the law into your own hands. It states that it will give you their address so you can find out where they live. Thats incredibly dangerous to be giving out the addresses of people not well liked, so others can go to their house and commit crimes against them.
I'm from the UK so it won't work for me from the sounds of it. Lots of offenders out here mind, highly doubt it'll ever be a problem for me. Girls love it really anyway, rape is the ultimate form of flattery after all. Soon as a girl gets raped they go right a book about it like they are the center of the world. The thought that someone desires them so much they are willing to go beyond the floor and risk everything they live for just for one experience with them. Suddenly everyman is scum, no one will hear the end of it and she can't get enough of the drama.
No, it's usually both. So, wait... Do they get to choose between registering or doing time in prison for the offence?

Canada's sex offender registry is 'not available to the public'. I'm ashamed of my country, holy hell.XilePrincess
Thats really the way it should be. If the government wants to keep tabs on them, fine. But letting some extreme people know where they live is a recipe for disaster.

Thing is.....16 is the age of consent most everywhere, so a 16 year old could have consensual sex with a 60 year old (God knows why  ) with no repercussions for the older person.

It also creates an atmosphere of fear. Instead of people minding their own business and looking out for themselves they focus on a specific group of people.. and become so consumed by their own fear of them.. they never see what is really dangerous to begin with. That is odd. I live in a remote area on my own. But according to the website, there is 1 in my area :?dramaybaz
Oh my God! You're a sex offender!

Quick!! Run away before he touches you or else you'll catch the sex offender! It's like the cooties, but worse!

If the 16 year old made the decision as well I'm not sure why all blame and punishment should be put on the 60 year old and none on the 16 year old.
There's a lot near schools.

Again, not all sex offenders are child molesters. A good deal of them likely pose no threat to children.
Am I the only one who thinks this is severely against human rights?
Scarebaby
No, you aren't the only one. The government shouldn't have the right to do this.

They don't have the right where I'm from, so this was the first time I heard of it. I'm absolutely appalled. O.O

You should be appalled. Contrary to popular belief the USA isn't the leader in progressive civil liberties.[QUOTE="Phoenix534"]

thats my point....no blame for either party as long as its consensual
statuatory rape for those under 16 in most areas though (except as part of the US 3-year older or less rule), whether consent was given or not.

I disagree and agree at the same time. A sex offender moved into my city and his name, face, address in some places even, etc were plastered all over school newsletters, the newspaper, etc. He hadn't done anything HERE, but he was outed anyway. I'm quite ashamed that the government feels the need to say they keep the registry private, yet let that go on. The police should know, and that's all. Not turn it into a gossipfest. Please Log In to post.
