OMG you have Joy Division in your sig!
The Who, undoubtebly.....amazing bass player, drummer, guitarist and vocalist.....The Sex Pistols kinda get boring after a while, although they did open my eyes to punk music, there are better punk bands out therezepman71actually, once in a doctors office i listened to never mind the bollocks 3 times nonstop. I was going to listen to it for the 4th time, but the doctor called me in to his office.
OMG you have Joy Division in your sig!I have lots of stuff! It changes randomly, but yeah, i had to have some Joy Division in therezepman71
Makes me wonder what peoples opinions would be if Sex Pistols released more than one album.nickmagIs there any reason to like the Sex Pistols?
[QUOTE="nickmag"]Makes me wonder what peoples opinions would be if Sex Pistols released more than one album.quiglythegreatIs there any reason to like the Sex Pistols? plenty. the fact that they were the first proper band to fight the establishment make all the bands doing it these days, towers of london anyone?, seem futile and copy cats. they set the precedent for punk (albeit the ramones and the stooges came before them, the sex pistols were the first to be crowned with the 'punk' label). not bashing music tastes or anything, each to their own (i LOVE radiohead). its just that the message of the sex pistols and attitude still lives on today is a tribute to them.

I don't listen to music for attitude alone, and certainly not one as stupid as punk rock's. The Sex Pistols were drivel musically and they were juvenile and stupid culturally.
"The loudest rock band" vs. an alright punk band. And Tommy, and Quadrophenia, The Who by Numbers, Who Are You. Dare I go on.
The Who win... just because of "Who's Next"

Who cares about "attitude". The Sex Pistols might have had "attitude" but all of their songs still sound the same. It confuses me how the worlds greatest bassist (John Entwistle of the Who) could possibly have influenced Sid Vicious... the idea of that scares me.

I said no insults, werent u paying attention. Oh, and there is plenty of reason to like em. Their music really was good, they could play their instruments well except for sid, and they made one of the greatest albums in history

Musically, The Who hands down. The Sex Pistols did so much for British music and music as a whole. They brought punk into the mainstream and where the first band dispised by parents which gets my vote, even though they were manufactured (their manager went around town recruiting the members then stuck them in a band together, two had played together before, and tried to promote his sex shop with them before he realised they were going to hit it big).nickmagid agree with this. i dont like the pistols all that much anymore, but they were culturally important. then again, they are responsible for the silly punk uniform that people continue to dress up in today.

It's a plain statement of what it is and what they wanted it to be. its not like the who were a a bunch of geniuses either. Keith moon passed out in the middle of a show after taking a bottle of horse tranqulizers. Now that, is stupid. Oh wow, and Pete Townshend was possibly the greatest songwriter of all time... I think that makes up for Keith Moon (who could also play his drums much better then whoever the Sex Pistols have). The who werent that great. Their music is pretty boring. And paul cook was a good drummer Sorry, but Keith Moon was considered one of the best drummer's of all time. Until now, I had no idea what the drummer from the Sex Pistols name was. Plus, I'd say just about everyone that has posted here has at least heard one song by the Who, but the same can't be said about the Sex Pistols.

And paul cook was a good drummer Well you are certaintly entitled to your opinion but it is accepted by just about everyone that the Sex Pistols weren't great in the songwriting department, which is something that Pete Townshend excelled in. Just in my opinion, but I think the Sex Pistols sound exactly the same in just about every one of their songs (the 3 chord formula sounds very generic to me), which makes me bored of them. The musicians of the Who on the other hand made diverse music, and Keith Moon plus John Entwistle excelled in their respective instruments...  and just a question, but why did you compare your favorite band to "a boring one"? I would never do that with the Who.
