Well, I haven't seen the movie yet, but if someone DIES because of a drug overdose, they shouldn't get an Oscar or any other big award in my honest opinion.Grodus5
That'll be up to the voters to decide.MattUD1That's an immediate yes, then. :| What really, the Oscars are voted for by the public? :? I didn't know that...

I don't know...I always figured they selected a group of qualified judges to choose...I guess not. :|

Check my previous message.[QUOTE="Video_Game_King"]Use it as bragging rights at parties :P. GabuEx
If you're making millions of dollars a year from your job, I think you've got enough bragging rights. :P
Keep in mind the other guests make just as much money. But they probably don't have an Oscar :P.

Yes, the fact he was able to get into character to well and masterfully play a villain makes him deserve it. The fact he died makes it more likely since the Academy loves to hand accolades to deceased starsToriko42
I think only one post-humous Oscar has been awarded in the Academy's history...

There have been more than one posthumous Oscar, but indeed only one posthumous Best Actor Oscar, and that was way back in 1976.

Yeah. Peter Finch from Network won it.

Yeh...that's what I meant... :P
He should get it,he did an amazing job at it but Aaron Eckhart also did an incredible job as Harvey Dent.Viper_GTS-RTHIS! how come everyone forgets eckharts preformance which was great as well. i think there might be two supporting oscar nominees from the same movie. actually wouldnt he be a main role or something? plus he was robbed for not getting the oscar for best actor in Thank You For Smoking. that movie still is up there on my top ten list, im gonna start reading the book this week probably
I think he should. Every actor in TDK was awesome, but Ledger took the Joker to a new level. He played his part flawlessly IMO.
His performance was good, but it wasn't great. I was slightly disappointed, what with all the (now-apparent) fanboy-ism on here and the rest of the internet. I didn't see much that put him past Jack Nicholson, to be honest. Most of the difference was determined by the film. I don't think it should be a given that he wins an Oscar.Bourbons3
I agree. Who ever played that role was gunna catch the online crowd. He is a crazy rebel that makes him cool. I also find it odd how he "accidentally" overdosed.

You know they were sleeping pills right? It's not like he died of heroin. Also, an Oscar is about performance not their personal life.

It was an accidental overdose between two different pills that dropped his blood pressure too low...one of those were sleeping pills, as stated above. It had nothing to do with him being an addict or anything like that.
