My right side of my jaw has been making a clicking sound for the last two years or so and i havent gotten it checked out yet because it doesnt really hurt. The only time it does hurt is when i mess with it and keep popping it in and out. But does anyone know what couldve cause something like that? and before anyone says the obvious "see a doctor" I will eventually but im just curious what other people think it could be? and no this isnt a joke thread or anything like tha. So?

If I open my mouth and point my jaw to the left, then nothing happens. But if I open my mouth and move my jaw to the right, there is a crackling noise.

I wonder if that is the same thing?

I do not know if my jaw is the same but when I open my jaw a certain way it, for a lack of a better word, pops. However, it is something that has never actually caused pain or even discomfort.

To the people who responded to this thread with their own concern, do you know if you clench your teeth while you sleep? This is more common than you think and can contribute to the "jaw cracking" phenomenon.

Not that I am aware of. I am able to do this with the vast majority of my joints in some form or fashion (e.g. jaw, fingers, knuckles, wrists, elbows, ankles, neck, etc.). I'm not talking about how people will often pop their fingers but something that can be done repeatedly.

Mine actually hurts alot at times but i really think that its only because when i notice the poping i cant leave it alone. I also have an under bite and thought that may have something to do with it.

I don't think it's a big deal at all. I never even think about it.. it's just something that my body does. I'd bet a lot of people have the same thing and it's completely normal.
