Yeah I would call. A simple hey what's going or how are you doing, can go a long way. You can always text if your more comfortable with that.

You should give him a call. If he doesn't answer, just leave a voice mail to let him know you're concerned.

Call and ask if he wants to talk about it. If he doesn't then respect that and leave him alone for a while.

i didn;t text cause i thought it might be kinda rude considering the fact that he's dad if not dead is in really a bad shape at the moment.

Never text in such situations, just call. Or visit.

I would text him as its less intrusive. If something real bad happened he doesn't need a call right now

Friends are supposed to be intrusive. It is a good thing. Texting has no feeling behind it. Just my opinion though, if I was said dude, I would want a friend to call or come visit me.

It's better if you show up yourself if you two share some confidence. He'll appreciate it. In situations like this is better to offer the most support since he seemed pretty troubled when he left

it's just that i'm really horrible in expressing myself in such situations and also giving condolences.

I would be annoyed by it, a text shows caring without getting in the way in a difficult family time

Showing up is risky, depending on how close you are. I would expect phone calls from my close friends though, if anything I let it go to voice mail. Depends on the friendship I suppose.

if you're good friends with him, you should call and show your concern for how he's doing. unless he's weird or something, he sounds like he might appreciate something like that.

I'd call. Just say "Hey, you seemed really upset when you left class today, is everything okay?" and if there is indeed bad news, offer your condolences and any assistance you can provide. Can you cook, or do you have somebody who could help you out a little, for example? make a few meals and bring them. Stuff like lasagna and other such casseroley type dishes). People who are going through a hard time (either a death or a medical issue in the family) often forget to take care of themselves and eat well, because they just don't have the time or willpower to get a meal together. It's a thoughtful thing to do and will relieve a little stress for his family. Knowing you actually care will make him feel a bit better, whatever the outcome is.

He's likely busy with his dad, I might send him a text or email to let him know that you're thinking about him. This way, he can let you know about his dad when he's able.

tips...tips...tips...pick up your phone, start dialing his number, wait for the ringing to stop meaning he either picks up or you get voicemail, and start talking :P he wont get offended for you being sincere and actually caring
