Should I get back with my girlfriend? (poll)

Me and my girlfriend are currently broke up, she wants to get back together.

Pros:

I do still kinda love her, we get along most of the time. Its good to have a girlfriend.

Cons:

She is highly emotional, my parents disaprove now, She is somewhat high maintenance.

What should I do?

Because the other day we had a fight and she told me I don't take her out enough... (I'm a college student with no job during the year, lol Im broke in other words... I take her out when I can)...and my parents think she is taking advantage of me.. but she did apologize for saying it.

Think about what your saying here. You kinda love her. You want her back because it's good to have a girlfriend. She's more emotional than you really like. She's more high maintenance than you really like. What your parents think don't really matter too much unless you're really young, so I didn't count that.

From what you've listed, it looks to me that you really just want any girlfriend and she is the most likely candidate right now. Just decide how badly you want a girlfriend, if you can wait, it's better to have one that you can get along with.

Alright, well the original break up was because I live in Florida and she lives in North Carolina (we both go to school in NC).. So we decided to break up over the summer, since we were not going to see eachother anyway...but she started ignoring me, and over time she said "it was over for good"... not today, she calls me and wants to get back together... and we havn't talked for a wile since I wanted to ignore her to make her feel badly like I was.. SHe wants an answer tomorrow, and I'm not sure where to go..

Take into account what she thinks of you. Does she also "kinda love" you? Has she been very loyal to you? Does she also want to get back together? If you both honestly believe you two made a huge mistake breaking up, then sure, get back together.

But you really have to think things through. There is a reason you two broke up, remember. If it was for some serious reason, then don't get back together. However, if it was something relatively minor that can easily be fixed with some work, then that's completely different.

Think it through man.

ok here's my interpretation of the whole thing.

1. you are physically attracted to her - basically she's hot, and it's always hard to say no to a hot chick.

2. you care about what happens to her - this combined with number 1 is basically love for alot of people. Sadly it's not really, love is much deeper.

3. she has the "typical" girl dreams. She strives for the nuclear family life like many women, and even if it means she's not as happy with it.

Why you probably shouldn't get back together with her.

1. She doesn't love you - she can say it, and you'll probably believe it, but from what I can see she's constantly thinking about what she can get out of the relationship (IE #3), and doesn't really care how you feel about it. It may sound cold and shallow, but I really don't think she's doing it on pupose if that's any help.

2. It's convenient - things seems alot better than they really are when their convenient to you... just look at fast food. Once the convenience goes away so will your "love", and you'll probably just end up making each other miserable.

3. Other fish in the sea - I'm sure this isn't your first, only, or last GF. Other chicks are always around especially in college. If you feel there was actually a good chance of you never dating again because of her then I might reconsider getting back together.

When you get right down to it, forumites are just people. Frankly, I don't see what the big problem is with people requesting advice here. Sure, you'll get a lot of stupid, immature responses, but there are also people who genuinely try to help and offer solid advice. It's easy to separate the two.
