They are just two different tests. You can take both, and should take both. Some schools only accept the SAT scores.. few only accept ACT scores, and some take both.

I'd just take both. Colleges will look at both.

Probably doesn't matter too much. I only took the ACT one time to be accepted into college so I didn't bother to take anything else...

Yeah, take both if you can. If you can only afford one, ask your potential colleges what they accept.

Ideally, both. If you're going to limit yourself to one, it depends on where you want to go to school. The western half of the country looks harder at the ACT, whereas the eastern half likes the SAT more.

I prefer the SAT since you don't need to have any actual knowledge. You just need the basic skills that you've been taught your entire life. I haven't taken the ACT though so I couldn't tell you how much knowledge you really need to do well.

Go for both (I am), but SAT may be higher on your priority list.

I thought, overall, the ACT was easier. The ACT was pretty easy until the science part. For some reason the science section kicked my ass, hard. That section was out of place.. it was a LOT harder than the rest of the sections on the test.

Or maybe I just suck at science.

Take both. Who knows you may score better in one than the other, colleges will jsut look at the better score. Thats what I'm doing this June.

Colleges in the south mostly look at ACT, but most will accept SAT but they don't like to rely on it as much.

Look at the colleges to which you plan to apply. Most will want the SAT. Some will want the ACT. Some might want both. For the most part, few are interested in the ACT, but before you pass it up, make sure that you won't need it. It might not hurt to take it, just as anther example of your aptitude.

depends on the college. i'd say the ACT since you don't get penalized for wrong answers, and because i did good on it (30 composite!)

I completely agreed...I studied for the dang thing and thought it was easy and I was pretty confident going into the science part...and then it killed me!

If the college you're applying to only accepts SAT then take that, if they only take ACT then take that. If the university accepts both, then take both. I found the ACT to be much more easier and less stressful compared to the SAT.

I didn't have too much trouble with the science section. It was mainly information on graphs, diagrams, charts while answering questions corresponding to them. It didn't seem like I needed to know much background information to it.
