[QUOTE="DEVILinIRON"]The only problem with that is that they keep coming back. So it really isn't a one time fee. Do you think your average illegal immigrant knows anything about our laws? They are really just throwing themselves at the mercy of our people. It is up to us to decide what to do with them. If we don't try and fix the problem over there, it will reach us over here. It doesn't matter how big a wall you build.airshocker

So we should just pay for them? Is that it? We should just pay because it's hard to do the right thing? The right thing, in case you don't know, is to enforce our laws.

Right according to laws? Laws change. I think you know that. So does our meaning of right change as a law changes? No. I think you know that basic human decency is what is really right. Hypothetically, if there were no laws, what would then qualify as "right"? Might or human decency?

This really isn't an argument. It's so vague that it could be used to support any possible perspective on the issue.

Yeah, and he defined it. You didn't, unless you consider "human decency" a definition. If you do, I'd be happy to argue that.

We should codify a bill of rights for illegal immigrants. The way in which we are heading now is on the path to being inhumane. If you want create laws constraining them, they should also have rights to protect them. They are human and deserve to be treated humanely. Granted they shouldn't have rights like a normal citizen. But simply ignoring their plight and throwing them back is not going to fix things. No wall, or law for that matter, is going to keep them all out.

I do not believe in the concept of citizenship. If you reside in a geographical region that defines itself as a specific country, work, pay taxes, you deserve all the benefits everyone else acquires from said geographical region, it doesn't matter how you got there, or why.

this is true what you say but the thing about it is the "we the people" part it states if you read the whole thing it says "WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" not we the people of canada, not we the people of mexico, not the people of south america and if we wanted any illegals to stay here without being punished or at least have to pay state and federal taxes we wouldnt have those things called umm oh yeah borders and coast guards......

[QUOTE="lil_speedy_rvd"]well if by illegal citizen you mean illegal immigrant than no they should not, the constitution of any country applies only to those deemed citizens. Therefore the only legal thing to do is to send them back to their own country and make them go through the proper channels in order to apply for a citizenship.Theokhoth
Our Constitution does not apply only to citizens. The Constitution never says "The right of the legal citizens. . ." but "The right of the people." Even in Amendment 14, where it lays out who is and isn't a citizen, it says in the very next sentence: ". . .nor shall any state deprive any PERSON. . ." You can't kill an illegal immigrant, you can't steal from them, you can't attack them, you can't arrest them without due process, you can't subject them to cruel or unusual punishment, etc. The only Constitutional right illegal immigrants don't have is the right to vote.

this is true what you say but the thing about it is the "we the people" part it states if you read the whole thing it says "WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" not we the people of canada, not we the people of mexico, not the people of south america and if we wanted any illegals to stay here without being punished or at least have to pay state and federal taxes we wouldnt have those things called umm oh yeah borders and coast guards......

Illegal citizens can have rights, they just can't have the priviledges that come with being a citizen.

No. Illegal citizens should be sent back to wherever they came from considering they're, you know... illegal.

I just don't think they should have basic human rights that we, the tax-payer, have to pay for.

I wouldn't mind paying to deport them, though.

By that, I think people mean that they shouldn't be shot on sight and such...

No, they shouldn't. Don't vote for a Democrat this year.

Illegal Citizens?

Illegal Immigrants should not have the same rights that Citizens have who are in the country legally, or are 'Natives' (to the point of, they were born here, not the point of generations ago)

If you mean illegal immigrants, then absolutely not. A nation's immigration laws should be created to protect the citizens of that nation, not the citizens of other nations who come here illegally and then whine about their "rights".

If they're not legal, then they're not citizens. Illegals should be sent home.
