Well, several threads and posts have made me curious enough to ask this question out right. Do you believe Islam should be equal with all other religions in the US, and share the same freedoms other religions have? Or should Islam be restrained somewhat in comparison to other major religions in the US?

Of course it should be protected. This shouldn't even be a question.

Because other countires are going to do that, aren't they? Anyway, my point was not to get stepped on. Disbanding your military might not help that cause too much.

I would like to vote no, even though its against the constitution. I just dont understand why anyone would want to practice that religion in this country, Islam is the very opposite of our value system.

It already is. People are free to practice islam in the US. There are no restrictions on headdress, building minarets, etc. other than normal zoning laws.

Regardless of whether it incites violence or not, it's still protected under the constitution. Just like the KKK, neo-nazis, etc. They have a right to exist and congregate even if others disagree with their message.

So we should change the easy lifestyles we lead, and tear down our houses and cut off our food supplies? I hate that argument, fair enough in other countries there may be injustices or hatred or violence on a larger scale - that doesn't make it right, we should just be thankful we live in a relatively good society. I think Islam is a religion of violence, but so are some other religions. A person should be free to practice it until they decide to act on that violent intent.

Your point is a non-point. The fact is there are rights in this country. Rights that are enshrined in the Constitution, the very bedrock this nation is founded upon. That other nations may not have such rights is no reason to chip away at the foundation of our nation.

The thing I dislike about media atm (particularly where I am in the UK) is how the second something negative and related to Islam comes up, it'll be the main focus of headlines (not necessarily anti-islam, just heavily focused on)... For example. there were a few idiots who decided to have an anti war protest against British troops when they were returning home, it was everywhere over the news - and shown as a sign of Islam. Then, the following week there was a protest AGAINST the previous protest, led by the muslim community, did it get very much press coverage? Of course not.

You can apply that logic to any crime. Should we lock up everyone born in a poor environment or abusive home because they are more likely to commit violence?

worlock77

Why shouldn't they be?

They don't respect others religious beliefs..their religion preaches violence..they have made numerous attacks on western civilization...and numerous attacks/attempted attacks on the united states in particular..their holy book (Quran) even states that non believers( i.e infidels) should be destroyed..and they do not respect individual freedom..this is their religious teachings...not the individuals of the religion..
