Such as plagiarism and copyright laws?

Is it right to pirate media made in America just because your country doesn't have laws about that sort of thing.

Nobody can govern the internet. If you wanted to do that you'd probably have to have a private version of it.

What you're implying isn't an internet issue, but a border issue. Just because a law is stipulated by America (or any other country in power at the time, for that matter), that doesn't mean it applies to every other country in the world. This would provide a clear window for tyranny of the many.

the only way the interent can be policed is if it gets privatised... but its to late for that. Besides what your mentioning seems more like a border issue?

The laws that apply, apply to your country alone. You download software from America and the usage and distribution is governed by your country's laws. But don't quote me, I ain't a law student. You'll have to get proper law practicing people in here to confirm.

By all means, it should. But we all would never want that. Right?

Laws are different for each country, so i agree that it isa border issue..

If people downloading stuff from the internet bothers you, then the only thing you can do it don't do it yourself. The only reason it bothers you is people like us end up spending a lot of money for games and movies and such, while they get it for free.

But it doesn't bother me, the inernet should not be controlled.

Controlling the internet =

It really can't be done all that effectively. Pirating music is illegal, but very few people get caught. Just let it be.

piracy = stealing, isn't it? then i guess so. but if american law enforcers were to extend their powers on another country, that would be tyranny.

Why? Those laws are intended to apply to marketible material. If you're gonna put the razz on someone for simply typing something on an instant messanger or a forum or a blog or a personal web page you might as well arrest them for reapeating a passage from a book while they are talking to their neighbor.

IF IT'S NOT BEING SOLD OR SOURCED FOR FINANCIAL GAIN PLAGIARISM AND COPYRIGH LAWS DO NOT APPLY. IF IT'S NOT BEING SOLD OR SOURCED FOR FINANCIAL GAIN PLAGIARISM AND COPYRIGH LAWS DO NOT APPLY. IF IT'S NOT BEING SOLD OR SOURCED FOR FINANCIAL GAIN PLAGIARISM AND COPYRIGH LAWS DO NOT APPLY. IF IT'S NOT BEING SOLD OR SOURCED FOR FINANCIAL GAIN PLAGIARISM AND COPYRIGH LAWS DO NOT APPLY. IF IT'S NOT BEING SOLD OR SOURCED FOR FINANCIAL GAIN PLAGIARISM AND COPYRIGH LAWS DO NOT APPLY.

In other words plagiarism & copyright laws state that nobody else can manufacture nor copy that material and sell it. They reserve the right to market their material and take credit for the material.  AND THAT'S IT!If the owner has it published by a 3rd publisher he or she might lose the right to it's publication.

People probably write their books based on everything they read on the internet. All of their literature is nothing but everyone elses un-copyrighted statements philosophies, opinions and ideas.

All writers steal and ripoff material. The material they copy and steal is not copyrighted so there is no legal issues. There may be ethical issues, but poor ethics is not a crime.

If you're affraid of people stealing your ideas then don't post them on the net. It's as stupid as showing others your invention or prototype before you have a patent.  Or your compositions and lyrics before you have it copyrighted.

You are absolutely mistaken. Violating copyright law applies if there are losses and damages to the copyright holder, such as free distribution of their work without their consent or compensation to them. Check here for formal statements on the subject. And as for discussing a work or quoting a passage, that falls within the category of fair use.

There are no laws on the internet, instead I think a multination task force, like Interpol, governs over it. I could be wrong, but the Internet is not an autonomous nation, nor does it have affiliations with any one nation, so there are no laws for it.
