I also checked out other languages versions of this passage. Where Rational atheist says "nor homosexuals, nor sodomites" the Spanish version reads "ni los afeminados, ni los pervertidos" and where RA says "revilers" the Spanish uses the term "difamadores".

These were not my words.

They were directly copied from a given quote.

Are we going into the semantics of the most accurate biblical translations (despite them not being the one given)? I never figured Spanish translations would generate more accurate English. BTW, a translation of "difamadores" is "one who maligns or defames".

Thanks for your translation...You're too kind.

you're welcome I was just trying to provide some extra clarification. I would translate difamador as "defamer".

I looked up reviler in the dictionary it means one who uses abusive language.

Thanks again, but I wonder why any extra clarification is necessary.

Dictionaries are widely available and reviler does also mean one who uses scornful language.

Defamer does mean one who disgraces, maligns and/or accuses - attributes of scornful language.

"Revile" is key here, since that word was used in the quote given (not by me, but to me) to demonstrate the original context. I'm not sure your "clarification" helped with that, but instead confused the issue with rival biblical translations and even foreign language biblical translations that had to be translated back to English.

okay. What is the debate betwixt crushmaster and thee about anyway? It seems you are both in agreeance that Christians should not be "defamers" or "revilers" or "slanderers".

Perhaps you could re-read the thread for the best overview on this.

No one follows their faith to the literal letter, it would be perfectly easy to be gay and still get the important stuff taken care of. Loving thy neighbor, golden rule, etc.
