No. It does more harm than good in the long run. There are other better methods to disciplining unruly children than corporal punishment.
ive known students to punch teachers just for telling them things. trust me as much as i support the paddle, kids these days are so rebellious and douche baggy that it might actually only make things worseI support it.
Sometimes time outs and detentions are not enough.
A paddle would do wonders at restoring a teacher's authority in clas s.
That said, it should be a last resort.

No. Parents are already overprotective of their spoiled tossers enough as it is.....Like hell they're going to allow someone to whip the piss out of them and *Gasp* put them in their place and make them feel less special.
People are already sue-happy as it is.
no, if a teacher hits my kid he would have a very effin angry dad going to see him. If he does something bad he can tell me so i can act accordingly, if now some teachers who failed in life take it out on kids i can't imagine if they could hit them, that power system would be open to abuse like the cops abusing their powers every chance they get
Yes, lets go back to a barbaric and outdated form of punishment that will only serve to hurt children and not teach them anything except spite and hate.
If you want to properly punish someone, they have to know what they did wrong and feel bad about it. You can't do that if you have to hurt them, it will only serve to push them further into thinking they are right and is considered a form of abuse in modern society, oh and also it will make them dumber, something a school would obviously not want.
I supoort it but only for the primary level.Shottayouth13-That's right, when they are more impressionable. Gotta disturb them early.
I can't say I agree. Nothing good could come out of letting our teachers physically punish students. I'm not a parent but even if I had a kid, I wouldn't feel comfortable letting a stranger physically discipline my kid. Especially if the little bugger was only in elementary school. I'm sure letting teachers beat kids would just have angry parents and lawsuits breathing down the school's back.
And you'd have to be insane to allow this in high school. By then its not even effective, its just humiliating and rage inducing. In fact, I know a few people I went to high school with who would sooner take the paddle and beat the teacher upside the head with it than allow themselves to be physically disciplined. Like someone said above, there are other and better ways to discipline kids. Let them know what they did wrong, why it was wrong, and the consequences that will come about if they keep doing it, and punish them accordingly with a detention, suspension, etc.

If the teacher even breathes on them the parents will sue the school and teacher. If they allow the teacher to give the kid a good spanking and the parent can't do nothing about it, the tables will turn and authority will be restored.[QUOTE="dercoo"]

Its not normal for students to go around punching teachers and actually getting away with it. Well at least not where I live anyway. I remember a story my sister told me about how a teacher accused a friend of hers of hitting her, and the principal actually had the balls to say something along the lines of "You don't hit a teacher, their safety is more important than yours, we don't care about you!" I don't know what became of that girl after that.
But if we allow teachers to strike students, especially older students, then it does make things worse. If they think a teacher is hitting them too hard or punishing them unfairly then they could counterattack, citing self defense as the reason for striking their teacher. And they might just get away with it.
That's not a good reason not to. It's discriminating people in the past for being less intelligent.No. It's 2012.

Why would you even feel a need to ask such a question?SunshaI don't remember. Something to do with some thread or post or something.
[QUOTE="Sunsha"]Why would you even feel a need to ask such a question?dave123321I don't remember. Something to do with some thread or post or something. You just wanna know if it's worth it to become a teacher because the current generation would be in support of you beating their children.
I think OP's parents didn't beat him up enough as a kidDystopian-XWe use TC to refer to the first poster around these parts.

Then I suppose I can forgive such a ridiculous thread. I rarely ever want to actually know what people think when I make topics, nor care about the topic much.

They can't get away with it. You really don't know what you're talking about. At my school a kid got a 2 week suspension for throwing a piece of paper at a teacher...
