A lot of this crap today is based on Respect and how much respect you have for your parents. so chances are I wont really have to worry much if I can teach my kids how to respect me.xhellcatx

Actually, a lot of this crap today and in earlier times is and was based on parents just demaaanding respect and not showing any to their children. If you just demand respect and do with your kids what you said you would, you probably won't get any. And you'll deserve it.

I got my first phone when I was 12. I think most kids by the time they start going out on their own to the movies or whatever with their friends should have a mobile phone and most of the time this starts around the age of 12 and entering Middle School. Its mostly about safety, its a messed up world out there and the easier you can contact someone you trust the better.

The world is not as messed up as most would have us believe. Our culture of media is extremly negative, and so people start to think the worst of things.

I'm sure you'd say that if your child was kidnapped.

You have no idea how my reactions would be. I'm not a typical person. Certainly I would feel bad, but that doesn't mean I would ignore all the good that goes on the world. I would not lose focus on the big picture and that is without the bad we have no way to feel good.. we need contrast. If one bad thing happens to me.. there are millions of good things happening for somebody else.
