no. funny how no one ever mentions car exhaust, as that stuff is even worse than second hand smoke. i think smoking tobacco is 100% pointless but i will stand up for smokers rights before this nation gets any worse

Not a total ban, but a ban in areas frequented by pedestrians should have a ban. Drinking alcoholic beverages in public is already illegal in many areas and beer doesn't even give off second-hand buzzes like cigarettes give off second-hand smoke.

I hear a lot of things being banned these days, you'd think the government or smaller State/State City governments would eventually run out of targets on their list to ban next...

They can if your personal liberty affects others in a negative way. Which is why so many places already ban smoking; it may be your body but the second hand smoke can affect people standing around you. If the person you're smoking around has really bad asthma then you're putting their life at risk.

Governments limit that, too. I just passed my exhaust test a few months ago.

This is the main reason I'd be against it. This country is starting down a slippery slope as it is to where pretty soon it will be illegal to get out of bed.

Public buildings, sure. Outside at parks or the like, no (other than high risk reserve areas).

The fact that a town in MA has made fining swearing in public a reality is scary enough for me, the horror...

Yes, it's unhealthy, and hurts the people around the smoker too.

No. 100 years ago this question would probably be "should the US government ban gun toting in public?"...and look where we're at now. If you carried a gun in your holster in public the cops would be called on you even though, ''techinically'', it is your right.

I think smoking should be banned in any central area (i.e. outside of restaurants, in "downtown areas", etc.). If you want to smoke outside your house though, go for it.

I kind of feel you on that because my grandmother smoked and as a kid I was always at her house so the smell brings a sense of nostalgia but other then that people can smoke in the privacy of their homes. If second hand smoking wasn't a real thing I wouldn't care but you do have those people who will smoke in public places with babies and children and not give a f*ck.
