I was thinking about all the times I got in trouble for talking about or giving out info to people for downloading free music and other stuff while I was posting on this site. (pms, OT, blogs) I got in trouble for talking about illegal stuff, the first time this happened, I was confused as I live in Canada and downloading music is not illegal here (as long as you don't try and profit from the songs you download)

After Iremembered that this is an American site, they were obviously following a different set of laws for there own country.

So youhave the net with tons of people online fromlots of different countries all with there own set of laws.

Is it fair for someone to get banned from a site for doing something illegal on a site that ispart of a country they have never stepped foot in?

Should the world agree to aspecific set of laws foronly the internet for all countries to follow?

I'm not just talking about music, I mean laws in general. Music one is something easy everyone could relate to, so it was good example. :P

No, it should not. And this site is not following laws, it's following it's own policy.

It's not illegal to talk about or even give information about how to get illegal materials, it is against the rules of Gamespot's company though.

Sites have the right to control what's being posted on them.

Suck it up and stop talking about illegal things.

No, each site has it's own rules and for there to be one set of rules for all sites would be ridiculous and could threaten our free speech.

No, that's a horrible idea, that would effectively destroy the concept of free speech. What's the point of having access to a world-wide communications network when you can't even say what you want to say?

No.. each site should have its own set of laws if it chooses. That's why the Internet rocks: you can do/say (almost) whatever you want on it!!!

not really, not everybody would ever be able to agree on a set group of laws. Personally I'd like 2 webs one of complete anarchy, and one sort of like what we have now w/out the overflow.
