I mean needless to say he isn't the one who promoted himself originally, and with the fact that this is pretty much a steel shed. The American media reporting this (and Islamic countries picking the story up) has set off terrorism alarms against Americans, and caused Islamic-worldwide Anti-American feelings. With the fact that despite what he's doing is despicable it is also not physically harming anyone nor is it a real debate on if this should be done or not, should this event have been ignored by the media?

Since the media is driven now by ratings and not by integrity, than they have little choice.

The more I read about this guy, the more he seems like some backwater klan type character. Every country has their wackos, but the US seems to be the only one that puts them on the front page.

As far as I'm concerned religion is exactly like Football.

in the eyes of the average fan there's our team and their team.

It seems to me that people are either extremely anti-muslim or or extremely sensitive to criticism of the same.

It's a despicable act indeed, but an act they have every right to thanks to freedom of speech. You have Jewish lawyers who believe in it so much that they defend KKK members for crying out loud. Freedom of speech took a hit here due to threat of violence and that isn't good.

Yes, they shouldn't report on him. They're the ones fanning the flames.

The guy is going to do what he wants. The media knows that their coverage will hurt Americans abroad, so they should simply ignore him.

Yes, far too minor a story to bother with. It's just some people burning a little paper.

Yeah it has nothing to do with bombing muslim countries, supporting muslim countries with dictators in them, our media constantly putting out propaganda on how violent islam is (fox news), and lets not forget our "unshakable" relationship with israel the only democracy in the middleast (as if Lebanon, turkey, iran aren't democracies) plus when we do try to spread democracy (palestinian territories, iraq, lebanon ) we tend to hate who the people elect so we cause a civil war between factions, one faction we support (fatah, lebanese army, sunni faction) the other we kick out (hamas, hezbollah, shiite factions). Plus lets not forget the war crimes committed in afghanistan and iraq and the "collateral damage"

"Terry Jones said he was calling off the event after the group behind a planned Islamic centre near Ground Zero in New York agreed to relocate it."

That's pretty good. I have to say, that guy's pretty ingenious in his planning...

Then I guess all those anti-Islam sentiments can be justified as well. Thanks for the clarification.

I 100% agree with you but sometimes it just seems like we are the ones that puts oil on the flame. The mosque at ground zero can be dealt with politically and socially and in a civilized manner but burning a book thats considered very important to 1.6 billion people just to make the statement that we will not tolerate you is not only putting oil on a flame but also hateful, and discriminatory and some people might even call it blackmail

Like I said, both sides have their [synonym for a plural form of anus censored by GameSpot]. US flags are burned in the Middle East as well and other such crimes. Both pertain to minorities.

Muslims are such a sensitive group of people, someone burns the Bible thats their sin, but since this one Pastor wants to burn the Koran holy crap the Islamic Countries are threatining all out World War 3.
