Should there be a white guy history month?

First of all, I am NOT racist- I believe ALL races are equal...

just wondering what you think- should there be a white dude history month, or is that just being silly? There is a black history month (February), a women's history month (March), and a asian pacific heritage month (May) - should white guys get one as well? Hey, we've done some good stuff for the world :) Just wondering what yall think.

It would be fair (and I would like to see it) but people would complain that it is some how racist. :roll:

I don't think so. It's stupid to have a history month for any race, in my opinion. I'm not one to give special treatment.

Given that the history of North America after 1492 and of Europe basically revolves around white guys, the other 11 months of the year are basically "white guy history month". :P

Most of the history they teach in schools is about white people. Kids are constantly learning about what white people did, whether it be Adolf Hitler or Alexander the Great.

There are many White people we celebrate through out the year and have for ages.. so no, we already have plenty.

What would we celebrate?

Blacks use the term to celebrate the lengths their past generations went to for civil rights.

Most things white people did to celebrate, everyone of other races were included. There are even some white people that get credit for helping blacks during Black history month.

Last time I checked there were 12 white history months.

Seriously though, the designation of a month or day to celebrate something or someone usually arises out of a need (or perceived need) to call attention to the person, persons,or event and bring them into public focus. There is presently no need to celebrate white history by making such a designation. White history is omni-present here in the good ol' US of A.

not a very good one...look if something happens in history it should be recorded and taught...if you have to set aside a month for any to promote itself its self serving and racist in itself...if things happen in history by whites its just the way it is...having BET black history month ect...just reinforces division and racial segregration...its excluding people based on color...and thats what you complain about when your doing the exact same thing you accuse white people of...and im sick of it!!!!!!!

Not saying I entirely agree with the idea of "black history month", but you have to admit that there are practically no historical black people you learn about in almost the entire history of North America and Europe until the 20th century. I personally think it's a good thing on the basis that it teaches black children that they do have a place in history, which is something that you would not exactly know if you just went through standard US history and heard all about the exploits of a group of people who are almost exclusively both white and male. People need role models a lot more than many think.

Everyone has a different heritage. My great grandparents immigrated to America around the early 20th century, but my family only extends back 3-4 generations. We don't have any history, at least known history, beyond 4 generations, and my own family name didn't start until 3 generations ago.

Racism is always foolish. I never said it wasn't. I just don't see how someone could hate their own race as well. At least when a racist says they hate another race you know they're just ignorant morons, but if they also hate their own race then you really have to question their mental stability...but maybe in that case they just hate humans in general.

I don't know, it's been a while since I was in a history course in school... but I honestly wouldn't disagree with doing so, provided that the people they cover are legitimately notable.

like i already said if you have one you should have another...and were does it stop?....native americans, asian immigrants, gays jews then we start running out of months...the only reason why we have it now is b/c of a long standing white guilt reminded to on a daily basis by the naacp

In school, if you are taking history, isn't pretty much every other month "White History month"? I have noticed that outside of the sepcific months, history classes are dominated by white history. Then again, the last history class was the history of Modern Europe and that was almost 5 years ago now >_>
