should we use death row/lifer prisoners as test subjects or gladiators.

[QUOTE="Gamerz1569"] But were not in normal conditions right now are we? Its recession far from normal, companys are laying-off employees and are still struggling to pay off the remaining employees and still turn up a profit. So if a new cheap source of labor appears (prisoners) wouldn't it be logical to hire them to save on management costs? and to answer your question,no I don't have any evidence, this is all speculation on my part since it was suggested that prisoners be used as cheap labor it would be logical to assume that they would be competing with normal people.Vandalvideo
It may or may not be logical, but first I need to be shown that a company is willing to sacrifice hiring policies in a recession, especially something as serious as ex-con status.

Like I said I have no evidence it is all speculation. Remember foxhound_fox suggested the use of prisoners for cheap labor, I was already under the assumption that the governemnt would be looking for odd, hard, risky jobs and forcing the prisoners to work for no wages. Anyway I don't think that this will happen as forcing someone to work against their will is slavery and a violation of their human rights, imo it is already enough to see them locked in jail. So lets leave at that.

Most overused, overrated quote ever.

phillo99

Not really, it is hypocritical to say "Killing is wrong, so we are going to kill you."

More like: You have infringed on the right to life of others, so yours is revoked.

Ahh, don't we just love the way we can use words?

Wouldn't that be similar to "Cruel and Unusual Punishment?"PannicAtack

i think a good number would volunteer, also with gladiators I mean players being sponsored they could use it as a way to make things easier. Would you want to spend life in prison day in day out doing the same thing.

I'm sorry, I've seemed to have accidently taken the wrong time portal to Nazi Germany.......

No we shouldn't use Death Row people as test subjects, hell there should be no Death Row, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

DarkGamer007

Godwin's law, dun dun dun dun. So you are comparing death row inmates, people who have been convicted of horrible crimes, who in the eyes of the state and the supporters of the state, deserve to die or spend the rest of their life behind bars to innocent people who were all killed because of a dictator? Well done.

No. But all prisoners should be used as cheap, hard labour. We have the technology these days to keep them in control and use them for things like 24-hour road construction or other harsh forms of labour that normal citizens wouldn't want to do. They are in prison to pay back their victims and society... they should be working for society.

No I'm saying conducting tests on people innocent or guilty is wrong and comparable to what the Nazis did on people during the War. We are not brutes, and doing tests on anyone is beyond inhuman and makes you no better than a Nazi who did do tests on people. No one should have to suffer like that, not even people convicted of the most henius crimes.

But if we are to take Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: "Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person". Then wouldn't that mean that jailing them is a violation of their human rights? As is the death penalty? I'd rather they pay back for their crimes in form of working for society than stagnate in a cell which we are having to pay for them to waste away in or even having to be processed and eventually killed.

We can put them in jail because of the due process of law. When people commit a crime, the government punishes them.

Nah, but my reasoning is that generally those who are in prison for murder are the best behaved inmates. The reason being that many of them commit murder in the heat of the moment etc as compared to those who are career criminals. When it comes to work release programs and stuff, they are always the favorites of the employers, while those with lesser offences tend to be problematic. So I vote for those pesky career criminals to be used for those things :P

Well compared to experimenting on them and letting them kill eachother for sport that sounded better to me. Of course taking something so irreplaceable as a human life is wrong either way, but if someone has killed someone in cold blood, do they deserve to live anymore, even in confinement?

Prisoners should be compensating the victims they armed. They should owe the victims not society. The prison system is bad because the victims have to pay taxes/prisons for the criminals then the other way around.

Okay, I can see someone arguing why they believe the death penalty is fair in their eyes, but this is sheer lunacy. Seriously, you're talking about pitting real people against each other in a murder sport and watching it for entertainment?

That's worse than the criminals themselves.

I honestly think some of them would agree just to have something to do. We could also use them as test subjects, but we might mess up and give them chemicals that give them superpowers. But if we could control them they would become superpowered gladiators. Imagine that sitting down and turning on VS network to see Dutch"the butcher"Mason a former butcher who murdered his wife and ate her, fighting Father Jake"the snake" a former priest who molested a young boy and strangled him. Weapons would be scattered around the arena. Dutch grabs his signature butcher knife, while Jake tries to execute his famous pulpit strangle.

The butcher slices his hand off, and the priest bolts for a pistol. Its hard to aim with one hand, and the guns would have limited low caliber ammo. He gets one shot between Jacks eyes. But thanks to lab experiments by his sponsors Microsoft his skull is bullet proof. He chuckes his knife at Father Jakes chest but its stopped by the Bible under his shirt. They scrap for a few minutes until Jake bites the butcher on neck(becaus of dental testing that coldgate did on his teeth they are harder then diamonds). The Butchers head comes flying off, and the paster gets his prize.... a bag of M&Ms and a dull rusty hook for his hand.

That would be a great way to

Mercenary848

Thank you for the lulz.

Although this would set back all of what the prison reform movement was for.

Let me get this straight:

We take dangerous convicted murderers, rapists, and psychos, and perform experiments on them to give them superpowers?

Gee, that sounds like a great idea, right up there with teaching bears how to use guns, and genetically modifying sharks to walk on land.

We could also put rabid animals on the island, and use a satellite to film the chaos.

The US government could then release the footage in collected episodes for a show called "World's Funniest Rabid Animals Attacking Convicted Felons Videos".

I vote for just throwing them on an uninhabited island.Stevo_the_gamer
And all the problems have now been solved. Put cameras all over the place, and make bets on who is the last man standing in the massive battle royale. Hmm...this reminds me of a movie...

No. But all prisoners should be used as cheap, hard labour. We have the technology these days to keep them in control and use them for things like 24-hour road construction or other harsh forms of labour that normal citizens wouldn't want to do. They are in prison to pay back their victims and society... they should be working for society.

The glad idea was cool TC. But this would be A LOT better in the long run.
