Atheists add holiday tree to courthouse lawn. "The Tree of Knowledge" is decorated with book covers, including the Holy Bible and the Quran. WTF? Check it.

I find it funny that so many people insult my belief(Atheism), yet when they do, I still protect their religion and respect it 100%, I'm such a bad guy right? Oh wait, who's the one protecting the others belief? Me. That's not to say I wasn't an arse in the past, I was. But now, I totally respect it, and still everyone has to insult my belief, oh well, I'll continue to respect and protect there's from bigots. If you don't like Atheists who insult religion, why stoop down to their INDIVIDUAL levels and insult an entire belief? You don't see me insulting all Christians because some are arses, instead, I realize that there are also much better ones...

So what's the problem? That they are taking the covers of books and using them as decorations? Grow up.

You stated it as if Atheists are generally disrespectful pricks, as in, that's the way an Atheist GENERALLY(Not always) is, it doesn't matter if you say all. It's when people make it out to be that I"m some kind of arse just because of my belief, rather than saying, "You know, I've encountered some Atheists who are bigots", you make it sound like some Atheist agreement. I've met Christians who are racists, I don't state it as a Christian agreement however, just that a Christian happened to be a racist.

So, I could state how Christians generally are, how black people generally are, how white people generally are, but it doesn't matter, you're clearly making out Atheists to be bigots. You could, "Most Atheists are like that to me". What if I said Christians are generally sexists that beat their wife, because of experience, wouldn't that offend you? (That was an example, I don't know sexists that beat their wife). It's still generalizing.

There should be an atheist holiday where atheists make stereotypical remarks about religion all day, insult people who believe in God, and mock them for the lifestyle they have chosen.

They could name it "Everyday."

The Christmas tree is taken from early Germanic tribes and is a pagan symbol. So for an atheist to use it for a display it is perfectly fine. Also what is wrong using a bible, tora, or quran on their tree of knowledge? They are books and do represent knowledge.

It is their choice to represent knowledge as they see fit.

Christmas trees don't have anything to do with christianity. I believe it's originally a pagan tradition or something. Just like easter eggs. and completely off-topic: And did you know that Santa Claus as we know it (beard, red and white suit) was invented by coca cola in 1931? Santa Claus is based on Saint Nicholas (Sinterklaas in dutch, which sounds a lot like santa claus), a bishop from Myra, Turkey. He was the patron saint of children, that's why in some countries (I believe germany, belgium and holland) they celebrate a gift giving night on dec. 5th So Saint Nicholas --> Sancte Claus --> Santa Claus This is what Saint Nicholas looks like in Holland: See the resemblance? I never knew that modern Santa Claus was invented by Coca Cola and based on Saint Nicholas, thought it was cool. /offtopic rant.

I actually can't find that statistic in Wikipedia. I did find 47% of Americans hold one of the views of Creationism. At the same time though, this was probably taken from polls out of so many people.

According to a 2001Gallup poll,[63] about 45% of Americans believe that "God created human beings pretty much in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years or so." Another 37% believe that "Human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God guided this process."[64] Only 14% believe that "human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God had no part in this process."

Link and scroll to prevalence.

What 's wrong with a Christmas tree? I'm an atheist (not athiest) myself but here we just have Christmas trees because of tradition, not religion. I don 't like atheists who are constantly complaining about other people's religions either and it isn't true that everyone who is non-religious is automatically anti-religious. Everybody can believe what they want, whether they're a Christian, Muslim, Hindu, follower of the holy theapot or whatever. And the same counts for people who don't believe in a God. Because America is a very Christian country I think atheists get often discriminated there and that's why there are reactions like this.

I'm sorry, I hope you're able to sleep tonight.

And comparing teeth to humans is never a good idea.

Why not, it works. And you missed my point, it wasn't about teeth at all.

yes, atheists that treat atheism like an organized religion are silly.

I didn't insult your "religion" (are you admitting atheism is a religion?). I insulted the character of many people in your religion, though I did not say all atheists, mind you. Had I meant all atheists, I would have specified "all atheists."

KiIIyou

That all is pointless, it''s like saying you're going to brush all your teeth when we would have known clearly what you meant if you would have said you're going to brush your teeth, do you imagine they're going to think you're cleaning a just few of them? You're selective precision is disturbing.

I'm sorry, I hope you're able to sleep tonight.

Well, you're entitled to think what you want. That's why America is great.

There should be an atheist holiday where atheists make stereotypical remarks about religion all day, insult people who believe in God, and mock them for the lifestyle they have chosen.

They could name it "Everyday."

Rhythmic_

They should make a holiday where this one guy on gamespot named Wemhim is an Atheist who defends religion even though everyone insults his belief, but he continues to do so anyway because he isn't intolerant of other beliefs.

If what I've said doesn't apply to you, ignore it.

I doubt you'd ignore it if I insulted your religion, you'd probably respond. But I wouldn't do that(Insult your religion).

There are Atheistic religions, but Atheism in general isn't a religion. Just like Theism doesn't have to be a religion, it can be a non religious belief. By religion, I just meant my religious standpoint. And even if you didn't say all, it doesn't change the fact it's discriminating. You were suggesting that Atheists were bigots, even if you didn't mean them ALL. If I met a middle eastern guy and said he was a terrorist, although, I didn't think they're ALL terrorists, just him(Since he's middle eastern), I'd still be discriminating. But I wouldn't say that, that's wrong.
