Can you justify an iPhone/Andriod/etc., or does a regular flip phone do the job just as well?

I have a 3-year-old flip, and it suits me pretty well. Might get something better tho.

If it does you fine then use it. The only reason to upgrade is if you want extra features, if you just need to txt/call people then keep that phone :)

I love my droid. I probably dont need it though. It comes in handy for GPS and looking up emails on the go and internet radio. If you dont mind the extra fee for it then I would say get one. If your tight on cash then its probably not the best idea just for alittle on the go email and web.

I have an iPhone that does has an unbelievably amount of features that no other phone can perform. I don't think I will ever switch phones again.

Once you see all of the cool stuff you can do with them, there is no going back to a regular phone.

yea really, I was thinking of getting regular phone to replace my blackberry to save money. Then once I remember it cant do anything really I got my droid and wow it did way more than even my BB ever did. I'd have to really be hurting for cash to not spend the extra 30 bucks a month for my smartphone.

if you have a laptop at home and you don't go out much, stick with your phone or upgrade to a new flip/cell.

I have a droid but all the features it has are awesome, but only if you're on the go a lot. Also, you'll want to get 3 chargers. They run out of juice if you're running multiple apps. I have the Droid Eris, but I've been waiting for the new gingerbread OS phones to drop on Verizon. I'm gonna be patient since I only had this phone for a year.

If you don't have your own personal computer, a iPod touch or any other smartphone is the best option. Besides, can you play Secret of Mana on a cheap nokia phone/flip phone?

im a bit conflicted on this. on the one hand i only use my phone for 4 things....sending texts and calls and receiving texts and calls. i have an N95 (bought it off my brother for little money) and i have pretty much no interest in its features. so i cant really justify getting any sort of high end phone on that score. i do my mobile gaming on a DS (and will on a 3DS). but id like to mess around with developing android apps. yes there is an emulator in the SDK but its not ideal for testing. i dont think thats a good enough reason to get one though.

I wanted an iPhone so I got one, I did not feel that I had to justify why I wanted it.

I like that if I have to wait for something somewhere, I can pull out my 'Berry and check Facebook, etc. I find it's worth it.

Depends on how much you use it's features. Got one in October and love it. Use it a lot and it is defintely worth it for me. On an unrelated note , this is my last post on GS.

I think one would be useful, but I can't really justify spending enough money for several videogames a year on a phone plan.

I've found that the smarter phones get, the stupider they act. I wish I just stuck with my Xenon.

If you're comfortable doing some tweaks you can make the phone sooo much better.

If you use it sure, personally I prefer my crappy old crappy phone. It wasn't even a flip phone but it was perfect since it was small and durable and all I needed it for was texting and calling.

i love the internet. and with a smartphone, the internet is always with me. but if you're doing fine with a regular flip phone, stick with it. cause you have a taste of this apple, there's no turning back.

I used to be one of those people that rarely used the cell phone. One day I decided to get a BlackBerry as part of a data plan and ever since I've been in contact with all of my friends in family way more than I used to. I really found it useful. It really depends on your situation. Having access to email and some IM applications you can save money form SMSs (considering you're contacts have a phone compatible with said applications and no, I'm not referring to the BlackBerry Messenger).

Not for me, this Samsung Reality is glitchy, should have gone for the real smartphones, but those require more expensive data plans :x

I have a Samsung Vibrant and love it. I'm not that social, but it's cool to play with all the features/apps it has. You should probably get one; they are really cool.

Depends on what you want to use it for. If you do lots of texting and want internet on the go, smartphones are great.

There's no justification necessary, it's just a matter of preference. I use my phone for only texting/calling, and not even a lot then, so I don't mind not having a smartphone. Someone else who might make use of the other features would make use out of a smartphone.

Someone else who might make use of the other features would be better suited for a smartphone. For example, a lot of companies give their employees smartphones so they can use the various features for work related business.

I got the Iphone 4 over the past summer and I love the thing. It's like carrying your very own pocket computer. It's very handy to have with the GPS capabilities and the many apps you can download.

Depends on what you need. It's extremely useful for me to be able to check my email, or get the news, or watch Netflix, or manage my bank account, or just surf the net. It has basically been my cure for boredom when I'm at school and stuff.

If you like going to the internet and looking up FB/twitter , Then is very worth it.

For me , I have the Moto droid , And i like to put Music into it, i have 237 songs on it (a ipod in my phone!) there no limit of what songs you want.

I also like changing my Ringtones and such , right now the Warcraft Lich king quotes when i get a email and get a txt message and a when ever i get a call it plays Bang install (from blazblue).

I also like Live wallpaper because it just makes your phone look cooler =).

I do miss my Chocolate however , it was pretty cool too :).
