Which anime you have seen has the best ending "EVER" i need a really good anime too, just finished watching grantz, really good, pretty sad too, but the ending was just like:

So im asking for an anime you guys know that has a good ending (and not a crappy one with an awesome ending i mean a really good anime in general too)

btw dont say:

full metal alchamist

naruto

bleach

death note

or elfen lied

(yes i know the grantz manga is longer and still being productive, but im not really a manga dude)

(btw it doesnt have to be englished dub, but id sligthly perfer if it is)

Not a whole lot of animes start well and manage to maintain the same consistency throughout, except for maybe Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Then again, I really limit myself to romance... I haven't seen much outside of that genre, except for the occasional shounen.

how is Air tv an anime with a good ending? It depressed me for a solid week, and made little sense.

on topic:

Kurokamiis a good anime (with a good ending) that had a simultaneous dub and sub release by Bandai (Code Geass).

One anime with a very good ending was Kiddy Grade. It did have its slow episodes, but was pretty good through out.

Because I could name a good, solid ton that are nice. I didn't name any initially because I didn't think you were into that, so I just said a good one off the top of my head that wasn't so niche.

Romance? Never seen either of those, but you could try:

Clannad (both seasons are excellent, but the ending doesn't make much sense outside the context of the original work)

Toradora! (pretty cool how this one plays out, even if you know it's coming)

Lovely Complex (nice little shoujo series)

Bokura Ga Ita (shoujo)

Nodame Cantabile (bit lighter on the romance aspect; still highly recommended)

Ookami to Koushinryou/Spice & Wolf (same as above)

Skip Beat (wasn't able to get into this one, but I've heard it's good. Going to give it another try eventaully)

Clannad/AfterStory (****is sad)

StripTheSoul

I have to disagree with this.

!!!WARNING: MASSIVE SPOILERS BELOW! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED AFTER STORY!!!

Would have put this in spoiler quotes except GS gives me an "HTML not well-formed" error if I do. So this will have to suffice. Again, massive spoilers lie ahead for anyone who hasn't finished Clannad: After Story so quit reading now or forever have the entire series ruined.

Clannad: After Story had the most disasterous ending I've ever seen. I was stunned at how just how damaging one episode could be to a series. If you only watch up to episode 21 then yeah, the "ending" is superb. But episode 22 just **** all over everything the series had been building up to at that point. All of the hardship since episode 17? Gone. All of immense leaps in character development Okazaki had made since Nagisa died? Gone. The bittersweet reunion of father and daughter? Gone. The beautifully tragic ending of episode 21? Never happened. Pretty much that entire last arc was rendered pointless by the last episode which is a shame seeing as it was by and far the best arc the series had.

Now yes, I'm aware of Clannad's timeline and how that arc really did happen and how Okazaki died, went to the other world as the robot, then got sent back, collected the orbs this time around, and made a wish. While that does mitigate a lot of the damage the ending did (at least it wasn't the inexplicable deus ex machina it seems like the first time you watch it), it doesn't change the fact that we get hit with a reset ending. Basically the writers went too far, chickened out, and made up a Disney ending (although granted that is Key's typical way of ending their visual novels).

This is to say nothing of the fact that the last third of the episode is pure filler, and annoying filler at that. It was bad enough that we had to listen to Fuko for seven minutes, but for half of that time to be spent with her forcing her sister to say the same damn line over and over again was too much. I found myself screaming at the show to just move the hell on and show us whatever it was that it was building up to.

!!! END SPOILERS !!!

Also there isBaccano,an interesting Gangster anime that has spawned the anime critics catch phrase "WatchBaccanoNOW!"

Be warned its episodes have a weird time line (goes in and out of 4-5 time periods for the characters), but it works in the end.

Going to have to agree.

The ending doesn't work for the anime because, as I said above: it doesn't make sense outside the context of the visual novel.

It's still a great series, but they should've altered the storyline somehow for the anime adaptation just so it didn't have to end as it did. Now I played the visual novel before I saw the anime (so I knew what was going to happen), but people were saying that the ending in the anime felt really cheap which, stepping back, I can completely understand.

How different is the VN from the show? I have it installed on my PC but I haven't gotten through too much of it since it's pretty much like reading the show right now. I know there's multiiple paths and multiple endings, but I'm also aware that in order to unlock after story you have to play through it enough times to unlock all the paths which I seriously can't see myself doing if the VN doesn't have some very worthwhile differences from the anime.

@gameguy6700

In terms of the "main" arc, there really are no *major* differences. You get more detail, I guess, but you'll probably be pretty bored with that part of the storyline if you aren't interested in seeing it yet again. You'll probably also have no drive to unlock the "real" ending, since you already know what happens.

As is typical of visual novels, there are other "paths" which progress completely differently. You can think of them as "what if" scenarios taking place in some parallel universe, I guess..which also means they'll have pretty much nothing in common with the main arc. Have you seen the Clannad OVAs? They sort of give you a glimpse of the other arcs. IMO: Some of the other arcs are good. Some aren't so good.

Eh..it's kind of hard to put in to words.

The storyline was all over the place, and was simply annoying to follow. There was no cohesion, and things just kept happening out of nowhere, with no warning given at all to the viewer. It seemed like the writers kept thinking "HEY, LET'S TRY THIS AND SEE WHERE IT TAKES US" without any thought given to what else was going on in the storyline at that point, nor what would happen from that point. If I had to describe the plot on in one word I'd choose "messy."

Once I got that "one too many unbelievably stupid twists" point I sort of just lost interest.

edit: merged

Yes, another anime fan who has seen the epic comedy animeKamen no maid guy.

Yeah the anime is amazing, too bad it probably won't have a second season, I know the creators had a easter egg of him in Goshūshō-sama Ninomiya-kun which was a funny and alright series. and I gotta agree with the dude that said Code Geass Second season was just terrible, it seemed to me that they were just busting O look a twist..... AND another twist.... and guess what we lied that tiwst was really about this! BUT wait you forgot about a TWIST! The show really annoyed me and I hated that the series felt reset after the first and hated the little brother relationship lelouche had, it all seemed lame to. and the sad attempt of having a open ending really pissed me off. ***************CLANNAD AFTER STORY SPOILER ******************* As for Clannad After Story, I didn't get the ending(untill I read about it) but I did interpret it in a similar way, as to how tomoya always had regret in his mind/heart that he was never good enough for anyone and blamed everyone but himself. He was happy but he always second guessed himself, as him stating I wish he never did this and what not. I always thought the stars or w/e were showing him this, until he came to realize he really appreciated everything he had given up on but had already given them up, and in then end he had finnally changed witch the led the stars to give him another life in which he was actually happy with himself and those around him, and was okay with understanding what had happened to him and his father. Idk but apparently I was wrong but I still like to think I was sort of close :P anyways clannad is my #1 it made me cry so much it was just tooo much!!!!!

I'll agree, BUT...

I will also disagree, because as much as I hate Disney endings, I had cried so hard by the last few episodes that I probably would have gone into a deep state of depression if they didn't twist everything and ruin it the way they did.

Clannad/AfterStory (****is sad)

Scianix-Black

I have to disagree with this.

I had cried so hard by the last few episodes that I probably would have gone into a deep state of depression if they didn't twist everything and ruin it the way they did.

Wimps like you ruin our tragic endings.

I'll agree, BUT...

I will also disagree, because as much as I hate Disney endings, I had cried so hard by the last few episodes that I probably would have gone into a deep state of depression if they didn't twist everything and ruin it the way they did.

Scianix-Black

The problem with that for me is that this was that they made the conclusion obvious early on.

Dragonball Z :P

I havnt watched anime for a long time but Street Fighter 2V was pretty damn good, had a good ending too leading to the manga movie. Others like CowBoy Bebop,HellSing and Trigun were awesome IMHO

Clannad (great anime, don't know what to say about the ending) Hayate no Gotoku (no ending yet) Soul Eater Card Captor Sakura The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (watch first season, not the second one) Lucky Star Valkyria Chronicles (only if you like love stories, different from the game in a way) Tsubasa Chronicles

Dragonball was good, but DBZ wasn't very good. Long drawn out fights and a boring story.

Claymore has a good ending from what I remember :) Give that a look. Also code geass was pretty cool ending. the ending for clannad after story was rubish, the last 2 episodes, the series should have finished at 22! (excluding 25 which is just a what could have been)

Then watch Kai. It is Dragon Ball Z but shorter without those boring fillers.

R2 was so bad that I never even made it to the ending :?

Guess I need to finish it someday.

It was great for Lelouch's revolution but for pretty much everything else it left a bunch of unanswered question. I.E What the heck is Geass? Either way it doesn't matter since I've heard that there will be another season of it.

I agree with all your choices except for Gantz. Is it really good?

If you can stand the animations and the voices of the characters it's a pretty fine
