And by "good" feminist I mean the ones that aren't radical, vindictive man haters. I can think of atleast two "good" feminists on OT, so hopefully this question can be answered.

It just seems like that you guys are getting over worked by your twisted counterparts. For instance;the following is what I know that the bad feminists are doing.

1. Protesting toy story 3 for being "sexist"

2. Saying that a man standing while peeing is oppressive towards women, and desiring to get rid of urinals in male bathrooms. Or atleast putting urinals in female bathrooms.(Gee... I guess it's oppressive towards men as to how a woman can have multiple orgasms in quick succession) There is no need for a woman to stand while peeing (although they can become good at it with practice), and a man standing while peeing is natural, not oppressive.

3. Advocating female on male violence.

4. Women in Australlia can now get away with killing their husbands just aslong as they claim that they were abused.I mean... my God... Just look at that "Best answer"(Hell, they can basically do that now here in America... Anyone remember Mary Winkler? IF women can do that, then whats the point of a battered womans shelter? Which reminds me, battered men shelters are virtually non-existent)

5. Feminist protest womens beauty pageant. (I'm sorry I was under the impression that beauty pageans exist to celebrate womens beauty, and brains.... I guess since you have neither you have the unquenchable urge to throw stink boms at them..)

6. Feminists getting all pissy because Darth Vader is "Pro-man"(All I could do was laugh:lol:_ this :issue" is so frivilous I'm questioning if they're serious or not.)

Protesting toy story, and Darth Vader? It's like they're just looking for an issue to argue about out of thin air.

Don't even let me get started on VAWA, an act that is so sexist that it is disgusting, and evil feminists using "domestic violence against women" for their benefit.

Like what are you good feminists doing(you know the ones who actually want equality for all)? I'm questioning if you even exist. Being a feminist use to have a good stigma(amongst the populace), now it has a bad one. There's a reason for that. If you good feminist do exist, then why does it seem like you're getting out worked/out muscled by your evil counterparts? Is there more evil ones than good ones? Is that why? Or are you guys just happy with the way things are, and don't really care?

Seriously... I would like to know.

I'm a female and I think most of those stories are insane. I'm Australian and have not even heard about us killing our husbands. I guess I'm a somewhat good feminist then.

Well most people aren't effected by domestic violence laws(seeing as it's rare, atleast I like to think of it as such)

Why does it always have to be one extreme or another? Women are either man hating whackos or act like property...

I've never met a man hating whacko, and I have never met a women who acts like a slave to her man... maybe its just me...

Well anyone who really identifies themself as a "feminist" is usually no good, however to be fair you could pull negative articles about nearly any group and link to them like you do. Republican, Democrat, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Homosexual, Heterosexual, Man, Woman, Black, White, Tall, Short etc, I think you get my point.

It's a lot more than that. As if women don't already have more rights than men. Not trying to start an argument though :P

There still isn't equality. Google "male privilege." Not to mention all the other issues that are still around - sexual harassment, genital mutilation (which is way worse than male circumcision), sex-selective abortion, etc.

Sexual harassment can happen to anybody. Women initiate most divorces, and they also get most of the alimony, even in no fault divorces. Men are more likely to be stressed, and commit suicide., breast cancer, and prostate cancer kills about the same amount of people yet breast cancer awareness/research gets atleast twice the amount of funding as prostate cancer.

This cracked me up:

According to several blogs and forums, feminists in Sweden, Germany, and Australia are fighting to ban urinals. Their goal: to make men have to sit down to pee. How banning urinals would accomplish this...I don't know

The article about urinals

...genital mutilation...PannicAtack

Once we succeed in wiping out indigenous cultures with McDonald's and the English language, this'll go away. It's only a matter of time.

Just out of curiousity...

Women want equality, and they deserve it... we should all be equal when it comes to perception and protection under the law... however, many women want equality until it prevents them from getting what they want...

Why doesn't the father of a child have a say when it comes to abortion? Why do women always get, and demand, the benifit of the doubt when it comes to divorce, and more importantly, custody of children? That doesn't seem particularly equal...

Again, just curious on your point of view...

Women are more susceptible to anxiety and depression-related disorders. Men successfully die by suicide more than women do, but women make more attempts than men do. I think the only place that is the exception to that is China, where successful suicides are nearly equal for both genders.

[QUOTE="XilePrincess"]I'm not a feminist and I don't see the point of being one, so I hope I'm not included in anyone's list of ot's feminists, "good" or otherwise. I personally think they need to shut the hell up and go do some laundry or something. You want rights and equal pay? Go work for them. You want to be recognized in society? Do something for it. Everybody deserves equal rights. Man, woman, white, black, gay or straight. If you want to be above the bare minimum equality and have more than the average person, work for it. That crap about the urinals just makes me facepalm. Like I said, you want something, work for it. I know dozens of women who can take a leak standing up as well as any man can, because they practiced and became good at it. There's no such thing as a "good" feminist. You know what a good feminist really is? A woman who is proud of being a woman, and wants to better society for other women who may not have all the rights and freedoms she has in her country, but doesn't shove it down your throat like an abrasive religious lunatic. AKA a nice person who happens to be female. Feminism is nothing more than a cracked "religion" in which women who have half a brain band together to spout bullcrap and hide behind a label the same way other religions hide behind their religious immunity when they decide to hate on gays or defend pedophilia.

I like this post. :)

Don't forget how women demand that we leave the toilet seat down for them. If they really wanted equality they'd say, "everyone move the toilet seat to their own desired position."

Ugh, I hate (most) feminists, just female supremacists preaching "equality". Almost as bad as wack-o extremist animal-rights activists. I mean; I'm all for equality and ethical treatment of animals, but these groups just take it to extremes and go far beyond "equality" and IMO the genders are pretty even in most modern societies

lol... It has to do with the methods both sexes typically choose. Typically, women attempt by overdosing on pills or by bleeding out (usually slitting their wrists). These methods aren't exactly 'reliable,' let's say. Typically, men attempt by shooting or hanging themselves. These methods are more violent and less likely to fail than the typical methods women choose.

Strange, I would hardly consider slitting your wrist a suicide attempt. The bllod would coagulate(spelling) way before drastic blood loss would occur. But I see what you're getting at.

My ex was a feminist, but it was more of a pro-equality deal. I agreed with her for pretty much everything she believe in:
the wife should be able to work.
they shouldn't be the only one doing the cleaning, and cooking.
sex isnt just a male dominated deal. its healthy for both genders.
nothing wrong with getting prettied up, but guys have to do some effort with ****and stuff.

lucky for me, she never really nagged me about that stuff. :D too bad we're not together anymore as of yesterday. :(

Well, it certainly is a method...a very common attempt, in fact. It can be successful - you just have to properly sever the veins and then you'll bleed out. It's very slow and painful, though, which explains why the success rate is low. I guess it could be argued that an attempt with such a high failure rate could be seen as more of a 'cry for help' than anything, but I don't really want to get into that since that's a completely different tangent.

So why are women not good at killing themselves?(According to you ofcourse)-Big_Red-

Well f*** me, this is obviously some element of male oppression. Corrupt Western culture has created a society that advantages men more than women to do the following:

  • Use firearms, to blow their heads off
  • Tie knots, for hangman's noose
  • Be less afraid of heights, to jump off bridges
  • Drive faster more polluting cars, to kill themselves in the garage
  • Drink bleach

Okay, so the last one men and women are probably equal on. Anyway...uh...this is discrimination! We should institute mandatory women's clinics where these things are taught. Women have the same right to death that men have!

I always though slitting your wrist was what you did when you don't really want to kill yourself, but just want attention. Of course, if your suicide attempt is based on irrationality, you can't be expected to realize that you probably won't die.

Cutting one's wrists does not always mean that one is seeking attention. Cutting oneself can be a viable suicide method or it can be something completely different, like self-harm. Surely from time to time it is a way in which people attempt to garner attention, but overall, it is a very misunderstood act.

It's not like you can't die from it though. There was a kid at my middle school who killed herself by slitting her wrists in a bathtub. I didn't know her, but everyone else seemed to.

No argument there.

Well the water she was in probably stopped her blood from solidifying.

The majority of them are trolls, and like all of the green species, they bring up absurd subjects and protests to attract attention. As always.

It is probably the best way to garner attention, seeing as scars would be visible long after you do it.
