because apart from the responses that never give a straight answer, or even better yet, are completely off topic, or even better yet even find some way to insult you but still narrowly get around the rules, i just have to wonder, is everyone here permanently in a bad mood?

Strange, I find most people around these parts are generally quite a polite bunch.

While it's true that it's internet and people get to break a bit from political correctness but it also shows the amount of hypocricy people posses. One should learn to be nice in reality and in virtual world. Albeit it's text but many do get affected by what's written here.
