In the "old days" you always here about the cliche jock beating up a nerd because he knew all about technology and stuff. Well now technology is moving faster than ever, becoming waaaay more mainstream than it was, and old traditions (even stuff like sports) seem to be slowly fading. And nerds are gaining more and more power.... we almost control the world... and because technology is now more mainstream, people rely on nerds to develop new technilogical breakthroughs, as well as fix the things they have now. And the numbers are growing... seems like my school has way more nerds than it use to.Â
and why do you think that physical labor jobs are becoming more in demand and getting paid higher wages than nerds? not enough people who aren't frail and weak. If one group does well then the other group gets bonuses, think of it like that. It's like nature intended it or something :P

how in the world is that only for sports, have you checked oil mining companies? I know people making upwards of 25$ an hour and they just got out of high school about half a year ago. Even the plumbers are getting paid a lot, they live like rich men, may be dirty, but there dirty... and rich.
I know it's cool and all to be into computers in this day and age, but back when I was into them in the 80's, I took so much crap at school from the jocks. Funny thing, I've been in the position to fire a few of those same jocks over the years because I have worked in upper-level IT positions overseeing the peons. I'm a contractor now so no bosses and no employees. But I've got my revenge already to the tune of a sometimes-six-digit yearly income. They're all working retail for $10 an hour. /me laughs and points.

Well, I happen to work in a mill and we haven't had a person lose a any limbs, well, ever. Also, major injuries are posted industry wide(within Canada and America). I have seen a few reported deaths lately but that is due to stupidity, not the industry.

That's especially true for northern Alberta and British Columbia. I know at least 4 people, dumb as **** who are making in the six figure annually. They work ridiculous hours mind you but yeah, I don't necessarily agree nerds are winning.
