It sounds like all they do is scream. I like guns n roses but im not sure if they are considered heavy metal. But i think im gonna start a band since its so easy to scream into a mic and get lots of money.kurama2002
 Good luck with that. Not only will your band probably be trash, you'll kill your voice.
Are you talking about Death Metal? That's garbage. But the Heavy Metal I'm thinking of is like Disturbed for Slipknot. PlasmaBeam44
I think its Death Metal im not sure. What is Screamo then?
Heavy meatls not bad,i dont listen to it though.
Now death metal sounds like ass to me,its just loud grunting and screams,do they even write lyrics?
If people like death metal then thats awesome, imo it sounds like trash.
Led zeppelin ftw!!!!!

Way to over generalize FTW!! :|
Death metal is a pretty vast genre. It usually seems like people have only listened to crappy technical DM or something, and think that all death metal must be just like that.
I dont like death metal.
Though i do like metallica, led zeppelin is my favorite band of all time, robert plant screams, but it sounds good when he does it.You know, cause he has talent.

There are lots of talented peiople who play DM. It doesn't have to be screaming. Even though i love DM (mainly melodic death metal). I usually prefer growling over screaming.
If you don't like DM that is fine.

To be honest, heavy metal nowadays is complete garbage at least from my point of view.
Now, death metal and black metal are a completely different story. This is where you find some of the most atmospheric music and creative music. When it comes to death metal, I must also differentiate between good death metal (generally from europe) and crappy american wannabees that you've probably been exposed to (i.e., one dude playing 2 power chords on his guitar and another one screaming into the mic). There are also bands that play technical music that virgin ears generally cannot grasp on the first try (nile did that for me years ago).
ps. here's an example of one of my favorite "black metal" songs. Despite the end of the song being cut off, if you listen to it you'll understand the atmosphere i'm talking about (also ignore the strange video)

Im pretty sure that metal isnt necessarily screaming/shouting?? im not exactly a music buff but isnt that black/death metal and then theres screamo...
anyway I like a heavy drum beat and soe good guitar in the background with clean vocals (not really screaming/shouting it just seems to go through me0 but that being said im getting more into it...

Led zeppelin my friend...led zeppelin.
Well i don't know about anyone else but my method is to start playing the piece of music and then listen to that sound rather than just ignoring it.
Like i say, i don't know if anyone else does it that way, but its what i do and its worked out pretty well so far...

:| How many times has that been said already?
I can only but assume you are referring to "death growls" and whatnot. Most death metal vocals are indeed rubbish, but Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth is an example of how to do them well. Melodic and full of emotion, he is the definition of good "raaaaagh" vocals. Oh yeah, and his clean vox are Komodog
A lot of pagan bands from Norway and Scandinavia do the growls right, not just Opeth.
[QUOTE="xxDustmanxx"]LED ZEPPELIN!!!

* Tries listening to LZ *
Uhm... This seems pretty average. Nothing worth shouting about imo.
but Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth is an example of how to do them well Komodog
* Adds Anders Jacobsson, and Tuomas Saukkonen *

Start screaming like that for 4 or 5 minutes straight and tell me how the blood in your throat tastes.
Can anyone recommend me some Led zeppelin songs? I'm trying to get my music history up by listening to all different genres thats why i asked how some people can listen to it cause it was not coming to my likings but i guess its just not for everyone. kurama2002
The Rover, Achilles Last Stand, Black Dog, Battle of Evermore, When The Levee Breaks, Whole Lotta Love, Thank You, Heartbreaker.....
